I added my new nem and it planted its foot fairly quicklyprobley about 5 minutes, then began to wander.

It's a quick lil dude too. But it went into my rock work and popped out the otherside its been hangin out in the same area but still just moving little here and there problem four inches, give or take in the rock and out and up and down.

How long till I should be worried that its wandering? I've had it for two nights now. Also the lil dude don't like m blue lights, I have panorama pros the deep blue one and my mh and it seems to like the mh ut as soon as my lures come o she goes back into the rock. Which is a bummer cause I can only run my mh for so long, I was told four ours to five tops....

I haven't feed Him yet, I had the LFS feed him a few hours before I brought it home and I didn't want to over feed.

It takes time for them to acclimate. Just dont try moving them because you will stress them even more. Once he finds his spot he will stay there. Why only run the halides 4 to 5 hours?

Well I have a small tank, the BioCube obviously, anyways I started to get to know some people in the hobby and they a suggested that eight hours of halide was a little intense for the size of my aquarium. So I bought some LEDs they are strong enough to keep the corals awake but not enough to cause excess growth for otherwise nuisance algae and ect.

Should I soak the freeze dried krill before feeding it? Like in salt water to soften it up? And should I feed it tomorrow or wait a while till its more settled. I think it's in the part of the tank it likes, it's just walks out during the day and goes back in at night.

I have an 8 gallon tank, I have no actinic lighting, just run a 70 watt metal halide from 11 am to 8 pm. Honestly, algae is less. This is due to the fact that algae likes to grow in lower kelvin lights, which actinic are. My 14k metal halide is not going to influence a whole lot of algae growth. Neither would yours. The only problem with running them for a long time is there are periods where they can cause too much heat and actually warm the water.

As for the nem, you can try to feed it. I never feed mine a frozen piece of krill or shrimp, I always let it soak in the water for a bit. Also, when you feed, be sure not to use your hands, use a pair of tongs (you may know all of this information, but just in case )

As for the light, the nem is probably just adjusting. It was not kept in these lights where you got it from, and it takes time to get use to it. The fact that it is staying in the same area is definitely a good sign though.

Actually I just anticipated feeding it by hand or with a baster lol, why use tongs? I only have a pair of long metal tweezers that I wouldn't feel comfortable putting in the system..

The reason you use tongs is to keep you clean (much easier than putting your hand in), so that you do not get stung, and so that it does not bother the anemone. Some people have an issue of wanting to force the anemone to eat and so try and put food directly in or as close to the mouth as possible. If you just wave it near its tentacles and avoid ding anything, go ahead and feed it by hand. I use to do that but have found it much much easier to use my tongs to place it near my nems tentacles and watch him bring it in really quickly.

I was you tubing it up and seen people mince theirs up and use baster, what do feel about that approach?

That works too. The only reason I prefer to use tongs is I get to visually see the anemone grab on to the food.

If i was relying on the anemone to grab a bunch of little stuff, it would worry me. I guess overall it gives me comfort to watch it grab the food and then stuff it in its mouth, rather than hoping it gets a bunch of small pieces and eats them. If you like that method though, go with it. If it eats, it eats!

Well it's official, it got steeled and its huge haha, no really huge. It must not of been to happy at the store, it more than doubled in size. It is easily 9 inches.... Almost to big for our tank...
