Am i being greedy getting another mag? Advice needed...

They couldn't send you pictures of not 900% antics? I'd be mad if I recieved a semi-bleached carpet after they sent me those pictures. At least it appears to be healthy other than a slight bleaching.
I have 2 mags and a gig in my tank now. Saw a huge mag at a lfs yesterday and traded some frags for it. After looking around the store it was a good $300 retail in frags I traded in for a $68 mag lol.

I thought the same when I saw the photos
If you look at post 19 there is a link to his other items. I did ask a all the right questions and he gave me the right answers plus they are a sponsor of the uk equivalent to reef central
Gigs don't come about that often here so I couldn't resist and pulled the trigger.

You obviously know how it feels like when you saw that mag :lolspin: :lolspin:

8 hours in qt with cipro day 1
I've left the lights off, I just switch the room lights on to take the video. I will have them on from tomorrow
It's very sticky
What do you think? Is the flow ok? And the mouth is open. Is it looking as expected for now? I take of those things in the mouth are it's teettb?

Do you think it's worth doing a 50% water change and another dose of cipro now! before I sleep or just leave it until tomorrow? 24 hours from now as I will be out

I don't think you need to add another dose of Cipro just yet.

I think it looks great for an acclimating gig. The tentacle extension is really good considering it was in the dark and then you turned the lights on to shoot the video. I wouldn't worry too much about the open mouth and exposed siphonoglyphs (the teeth looking appendages).

You can keep QTing with Cipro but at this point I wouldn't worry unless:

1. It deflates
2. The mouth opens where it appears loose and can't close it
3. The posture changes where it appears that it can't hold itself upright (right now it looks great -- it's holding itself up against the current which is a really good sign)
4. It starts spitting out a lot of dead zooxanthellae (brown bits that look like rat poop) a little bit is fine

Aside from the slight bleaching it appears that you have a healthy specimen.

Thanks for the pointers. It's put my mind more at ease. To my knowledge it has not deflated at all. I was more concerned about the mouth but like you said, it's not loose. Wife said it pooped a little when she put it in the tank but nothing at the moment

The colour of the column is really nice, almost artificial

Looks real good.. Keep posting the updates, even if it looks the same from the day before, a picture says a lot.

That is a nice specimen you got.

ok, not much to report but I took this video an hour or 2 ago, lights have been out for a good six hours.

gig still looking good. the mouth is slightly open but not too much. wife sent me a video during the day and it looked fine a well. I will take another video tomorrow during lights on and will monitor it during the day but as far as I am aware, no deflates etc.

Good news in that's there's much to report
Here's today's video under full lighting

And a couple of pictures...
The mouth is slightly open, is this normal healthy gig or should it be tighter? It looks slightly tighter in the photo thanin real life but that's the best Ivan do

You might think about adjusting those rocks as they are rocking back and forth in the current.

That's a good spot. It was used to hold the egg crate in place and the power head blew it out. I've now moved it back into place so it's not 'rocking'. :uzi::wildone:

A question for gig owners, when is it best to transfer it into the DT? I'm hoping to place it to the centre right where that mass of green is pretty near the bottom.

If it climbs near the Magnifica, should I worry or just let them sort themselves out or move one to keep them apart?

I've been away for 2 and a half days and have not done any water changes/cipro while i've been gone. reasons being the wife just doesn't like touching fish stuff and it's been looking fine. Well, got home and did 50% water change and I don't intend on using any more cipro now. It does not seem to be as big as it was in the first few days, but still looks health and no deflations. seems to have browned a bit.

I am planning to put it in the display tank this Sunday (possibly Saturday) as I will be home all day and will be able to monitor it's movements.
