Am I ready for SPS?

cooltank yea kinda weird how photobucket took an image like 5 seconds into the video. Does look like hes dead:eek:

hey sam....

IME which isnt as much as some other sps guys ....

but too me CA and especially ALK need to be stable..... seems like Alk issues can be the downfall of many sps tanks

if i were u get a 2 part addative and use that for now....

on my old 100 i used B-Ionic with good results until i got into more sps.... once i got into more sps it was just too hard to figure out how much to dose on a daily basis and i would spend tons of money on the salifer test kits to test every otehr day tro make sure i wasnt lakin in CA or ALk....

if ur guna wanna go sps dont go full sps/clams until u get a CA reactor.... these things are necessary UIMO in a bigger sps tank....

on my 180 calcium is being sucked up so fast that i wouldnt even attempt to try and manually dose that stuff....

if u want happy healthy sps

u need the following

good, stable water.... no fluctuations in temp, ca, alk, mg, SG, am, ni, na, po4s

good flow 30-40x's at least

good lighting....175's are a lil light in the sps department keep them high for now

expect to lose a few pieces in the beggining i lost my fair share but once u get ur water chemisty figured out things should be alot easier!

trust me ur guna need a CA reactor if u wanna go sps

Nilsen Reactor ?

Nilsen Reactor ?

Since your starting off with some easy sps frags you could start using a Nilson Reactor before spending a ton of money on a calcium reactor set up. As you get more and more sps then you could add the CR in addition to the NR.

The set up on the NR is easier too. I like this one:
