Amino Acids

Who is using it, what kind, how often and what are the results. I have been doing a lot of research on this as of late and want to hear more! Also would like to know what type of corals are in the tanks

I use Amino in my sps system and I am not sure if its making a difference or is it just everything I do, but I do get great color. I use Seachem Amino. I am able to get my hands on PRODIBIO products and I am going to try it and see how it turns out.

I've been using the elos amino acids for about 2 weeks now and colors are much better. I saw most improvement in my efflos. I dose 5 drops daily on my 90.

For me, my colors are darker and richer. If that makes sense. The Blues radiant more.

Here's a pic of a Austera Tort I have. Before and after, the only thing I add different is pappone and reef plus. The pic does not do justice, the tips look like they're glowing under 10k's without actinics and the body is a dark purple.

Salifert Coralline Aminos. I don't have PIX to support this, BUT I have seen definite color improvement in my SPS, especially in my green purple rim cap.

Jordan- So, do you like the elos' results. When are you going to make some more Pappone? I wouldn't mind some on your next go around. I have my own containers as well.

don't know if this applies, but I've been a regular user of Seachem Reef Plus (trace elements, vitamins, and amino acids). Mostly adding it with my waterchanges, but I also use it once a week with my top off water.

to my understanding you don't need to dose amino acids if you are not running the special system like Ultralith, Zeovit etc. since ultralith, zeovit systems will strip everything out from the water and you have to dose amino acid to replace the stripped ones, so you can have more control of what the corals are uptaking. but if you are running regular systems, water changes and feeding should be enough.

I am running ultralith and I have notice if I forgot to dose the amino acids the SPS will turn a lighter color, but if I up the dosage, the color becomes more vibrant. but if I dose even more, there will be a lot of film algae starting to appear everywhere. that's my experience.

I know they are not a "must" but from what I have read they produce some great results even for people not running Zeo, etc.

Zevit or no Zeovit, our tanks run about 50% the levels of bacteria on the reef. Bactaria are a known food source for corals. It leads one down the path of thinking we need to boost our bactaria levels to feed the corals

I went to YR on Tues and picked up some elos AA's. I have traveled down the path of the dark side long enough, I might as well continue

No thanks Brian. I like sand way too much and I like fish way too much as well.

i have lots of fish 11 fish in my 90 granted most are small

I know Brian. I looked into Zeo awhile back and I just could not imagine going on vacation for a week and still having to dose. I am too lazy for you zeo heads .
