Amphipod feeding response to Golden Pearls

Today, when adding golden pearls to my refugium, I noticed within seconds that there were all kinds of amphipods swarming to the surface (surface of the water and my algae mass) and fanning their feeding appendages. The change was quite dramatic: before feeding, nothing, after feeding dozens of amphipods at the surface.

I wonder why the feeding response is so strong?

Did the same thing with some freeze dried cyclopeeze tonight. Got the same response from the amphipods plus a whole herd of bristle worms.

Its interesting how quickly they respond.

They will also go after flake foods. They go crazy for the sample one from brine shrimp direct in particular.

Tried it last night. It was "Bug Wars". The most fun I've had in my refugium in years. 2 thumbs up.
