Amphiprion ocellaris variegata - "Snowflake" Ocellaris Clownfish

I haven't yet. They have been small spawns and I don't have the really have the time. I do however have my Rot & Phyto cultures ready in case I change my mind. I have been using them to feed my corals. They have been spawning on the glass and I did not want to go through the hassle of setting up my fry trap. I did put in a piece of a broken planter pot in case I wanted to take these out. I tried to take a pic but the eggs are the same color as the piece of pottery. they get darker and shiny black eyes before they hatch and I will take pics then. That should be next Wed. If you search back there are some pics of their 1st spawn about a month ago.

just wanted to add that these clowns are becoming very available and more affordable so someone is breeding them [england] pretty fast.
I can get them for $75 but I cannot divulge were from. I'm ordering a pair in a month

Is that $75 for a pair? That's crazy. I was told that LA wholesalers are selling them for over $300 per pair, and are only sold to regular customers...no one-timers. Only those retailers that buy lots of clowns (and snowflakes) on a regular basis.

When most folks in the business can't keep snowflake, picasso, or even percula/ocellaris straight, be wary of clown "deals". Very wary.

I do have a feeling that John rochon might hit the nail on something, I do see alot more snowflake clowns being sold alot more these days comparing to before.

Even Proacquaticx is selling pairs after pairs on ebay, there might be alternative sources.

Could be copy cats, market saturation, or a million other reasons.

One should still be very cautious when dealing with lower priced "named", infrequently available, or delicate clowns.

It's also 2 years old.

hahhahaha i should have looked before i reported that post hahahahahaha

yeh I didn't realize this thread was 2 years old LOL.
I have a friend whom can get them in for $75 each my price but probaly about $90 each retail. thats still pretyy $$$$ for clown fish. and once there regularly available [and they probaly will be]
we'll be kicking ourselfs for paying so much:D

I very much believe that, just like most things in the hobby, the biologists will figure out ways to increse their success of breeding the snowflake........just like they found ways to successfully keep acroporas under captivity. Just a matter of time.

Can't believe this thread popped up again after 2 years. I might as well update on my attempts at breeding my Snowflake X Percula. I did collect and raise one spawn that produced a few with snowflake patterns. I gave them to friends and schools(ones with normal patterns) to see if anyone could raise and breed them. I got a call a few weeks ago from a friend I gave some Juvi's too, and he said one had successfully spawned viable eggs.
I only raised that one spawn to find out if the snowflake pattern could be bred through, and if hybrids could produce viable spawns. It was a yes to both of my questions.
My pair continue to spawn but I do not have the time to raise any more larvae. Some day I will but I will probably move the male Snowflake with a female Ocellaris to get Ocellaris snowflakes. I'll see if I can find some old pics.
Hybrid Snowflake Juvi's

FishnWishn nice picutres how long did you have them before they started to lay eggs.
I have a pair of snowflakes who have been acting like they are getting ready to spawn....I can't wait.
