Amphiprion omanensis (pictures)

That is definitely strange how much variation there seems to be in this species. Most of Yuri's photos seem very similar to bicinctus, but Marc's set, atleast to me, look a lot more like nigripes with an extra stripe.

In this Clownfish Complex there´s a huge variation in color tonality...............

From Yellow/Orange to Brownish...............in Amphiprion chagosensis............(knowed untill today)..........

And in Amphiprion bicinctus from Yellow/Orange.......Brownish to Black.............

Amphiprion omanensis body color range from Black to Brick Red..............Pinkish hue is common...............

This from Mirbat...........South West Oman´s Sultanate..............

Amphiprion omanensis Juvenile from Mirbat.........

One detail that I´m paying attention is about Tail morphology..........

In one extreme.........we can see that the Tail of Amphiprion omanensis have the biggest filaments of all............

Follow by the not so huge...........by still great filaments in Amphiprion bicinctus.........

But in Amphiprion chagosensis...........the tail don´t have such long Filaments..........at least in the great majority of population........perhaps few old individuals have bigger filaments...........but I never see............

Look at these Tail filaments of Amphiprion omanensis........basically all individuals have long Filaments and a White Tail...........

Pelvic Fins color may have a little variation..............in Amphiprion omanensis........but tending to be Black at the end............

I think that this color variation in Amphiprion chagosensis..........is expected............

From Yellow/Orange to Brownish..............I think its OK..........

In this link have a picture of Brownish individual of Chagos Anemonefish.......

Wow! I've had chrysopterus with really long filaments like that but over time they tended to shorten in captivity. I always wondered if it was caused by a lack of swimming space. These big clarkii complex types tend to spend a lot of time swimming far from thei anemone, and I believe the extended tail may be an adaptation for that behavior.

I don´t know........

It´s just an overall view..............

It seems that in Amphiprion omanensis these filaments are bigger..........

Its very difficult and complex study these clownfishes...........

There is a population of Amphiprion bicinctus from Aqba Gulf............very distinct and ressembles Amphiprion omanensis..........

But they don´t have such long filaments............

Check these Amphiprion bicinctus fro Aqba Gulf...........

Some fishs are realy dark.....

These are fishes from Aqba Gulf............Northern of Red Sea............and they are Amphiprion bicinctus.............

Eilat is beautiful.

Yuri as always ur pics are so good for people to see the variants in regions. One fish can vary based on location and anemone.

I was checking my archives..........to find the origin of this pic.........but I think that I made a mistake.............

I have heard tales that omanensis sometimes strays beyond the protected waters of Oman, but as far as I know there aren't many collecting stations in Yeman either. :)

I have seen pics of chrysopterus that look very much like omanensis.

This pic was taken in the Solomon Islands. Comes complete with tail extentions, black ventral fins and yellow pectoral fins.

Some of these Amphiprion chrysopterus really trick............specially Brown Morphs........

These fishes really ressembles Amphiprion omanensis............

These are photographed in Great Barrier Reef of Australia.........

However these kind of Amphiprion chrysopterus..........ressembles Amphiprion omanensis.................Amphiprion chrysopterus do not belongs to the same Clownfish Complex of (Omanensis/Bicinctus/Chagosensis)..............

that is def a hybrid fish. There is not way that is fully blue stripe, that might be the missing link in the question i always ask what does the fish that are more blue stripe in a Blue Stripe x luecokranos pair.

Yes........maybe this fish have its roots in the Leucokranos crosses......

But all A. chrysopterus variations.............I mean pure A. chrysopterus............have Brown Morph individuals in their wild populations..............

I can recognize 4 different A. chrysopterus varieties...........and in all........I found pictures of Brown Morphs............

A kind of mistery to me these Brown Morphs.............and color change that occours in A. chrysopterus............

Hope

Hope

Yuri it always drives me nuts that we never see a blue stripe with skunk traits but i just did.

I dont think i have ever seen one except for that picture.
