Anaother acrylic tank question

Is it necessary to put some type of foam pad under an acrylic tank? I've heard some people say yes and some no. Is it just a matter of how flat it sits on the stand?

Some people do others don't I didn't and should have. I thought all was well when I first filled my 120 like 7 years ago and there must have been a slight crown in the granite slab I had the tank on and two days after filling the beast was watching tv, sitting right next to the tank it was like somebody fired a gun right next to my head, the laminated edge detail on the countertop cracked, needless to say it scared the hell out of me. Also my tank has always had about 1/16" gap in the center along the front edge and it has always worried me a little so having said all this I think I would foam my next one lol.

Ken yours is half the weight and on ghetto plywood so there would be some flex available in the ply. Mine was on granite and weighs about 1200 pounds. ;)

I actually finished my stand today. This isn't the actual tank, but I wanted to test it with something heavier. What do you think? I'm pretty excited about how nice it will look in my main room.

I would put another piece of plywood between the first blocks to give the structure more leverage :D and you can use it as a shelve too

You could get some debar to hang the light from maybe a bare bulb incandescent 100watts should do it huh? :D
