When the actinics kicked on this morning, one of the the rbta's was splitting. Obviously, they are done splitting.

Has anyone ever seen one splitting without the lights on? I've only seen them split with the lights on. Does the lighting affect this process?

There's lots of theories on what causes splitting, but no conclusions.

Stress, temperature change, new tank, moonlights are all listed causes and some of these are more positive than others.

My BTA split at night. The next morning I had two and one died in a couple of weeks. The other is perfectly fine.
