Anemone for Picasso Clowns

Soooooo

I have been thinking of getting a anemone for my Picasso Clown pair. My lighting is strong enough to support one.

Does anybody have a recommendation on which anemone would be the best for my Picasso Pair to host? I was thinking about a Bubble Tip.

Thank you for your help!!

Well this should have been posted in the clownfish and anemone section not the other invertebrates section. But to answer you question you could do a bubbletip however a bubbletip is not their natural host and some clowns may never try to go into them. My picasso went into my bubbletip within seconds of introduction but many others have not been lucky and it takes a long time for them to feel comfortable enough with them.

You can search a more natural host for percula (picasso) clowns in the anemone section read the stickies and you will learn a good deal

I'd take my chances with a bubble tip. Typically true perculas have not been picky with host anemones in my experience. Mags and gigs are challenging. You may lose a few before you get one to live.

Here is the new Anemone this morning!!

What's going on in that second picture? Is that a giant piece of food? Rule of thumb is only feed them something the size of their mouth. You should really try some mysis shrimp. Thaw some in a cup of tank water and suck it up with a turkey baster. Turn off any power heads/wave makers and lightly baste the anemone with the food.

Normally I advise a natural host match, but sometimes they will take an alternative.
I have not noticed anyone commenting on BTA's and picasso's losing their black color while being hosted by BTA's but this has happen to me and others, so I'd keep an eye out for that.
I did not believe it until it happened to me.
Then when I pulled the BTA's the black came back, it was a weird experience.

My picassos have been in my tank with 2 RBTA's for a year. Neither has shown any interest in them, which sucks lol. Good luck.

I can't recall having issues with A. Percula clowns accepting BTA and other unnatural host anemones. Here's my latest pair of tank raised Onyx and wild caught true percula making itself comfortable in a BTA. The onyx clown went in before the wild clown.
