Anemone hiding

God of thunder

This is probubly a very frequently asked question, but here goes...
My New BTA anemone is kind of shy by the looks of things, it went straight to the back of the tank and is now behind all of my live rock, is there any way to lure it back?

yes, ita was under a lot weaker lights, some t5 i think. at fyrst it was ok, then it had a kind of hiding place, but then it wonderd out under my 400 W mH, could ot be that it´s not used to that sort of lights?

Off the top of my head I would think that it is the lights (( would be nice to know your water parms, just to be safe )).

Is there a way you can either shorten the photo-period or raise the lights for a while?

Yes, either would be a good posibility. the paramets are.
Nitrate 0
Calsium 470
Alk 3.9 Meq/L
it ate a pice of raw shrimp, ain´t thar a god sign?
Any suggestions?

What is your temp and salinity (( just want to take away as many variables as possible ))

Eating is always a good sign in my book.

What adjust the lights for a bit -- which ever route works best for you.

And for now I would leave it where it is. However, anemones don't always do what is best for them. If it is still hiding in about a week, I would think about moving some rocks or what not so that it does get some light.

My salinity is 1,0255 my temp swings from 24,5C - 27C i think thats 77-82 F.
I´l try to raise the lights an dshorten the lighting period.

Those both seem in check too.

And assuming there is no fish that is picking on it -- certain angles and butterflies -- I think it is the increase in lights.

It might help to make sure it has a place to hide anyway. Mine hangs upside down in a cave every night then comes out during the day.

Sometimes if I feed it too much it hangs in the cave during the day.

Mine hasn't moved yet after 6 weeks or so. I just changed bulbs so the anemone is slowly acclimating itself to the change by staying in the cave and letting a few tentacles peek out.

I think if you put them on a ledge with a place to hide, plenty of flow and keep them fed ....they will not move

Could it be possible that it decited to hide to because i just feed it, it ate a pice of raw shrimp, wreather big also, and then moments later it hided away in the back of the tank?
i have a copperband, but it hasn´t shown the anemone any interest.

I would keep an eye on the copperband.

For now I would go with smaller pieces of food.

When I feed mine it really doesn't change size that much --- besides its tentacles pulling the food towards the mouth.

I'm not sure...it seems to emerge with better coloring after a big feeding. I don't really like the hiding part of it though because it makes me nervous.

I'm just going to be safe and feed smaller from now on I think.
