This was sold to me as a sebae. Does anyone know if it's a malu or a crispa?

Sorry for the crappy pics. Best I could get with my cell camera.

Is this one of those unfocus your eyes and stare off into the distance and you can see a jet airplane or unicorn picture?!

Yikes. Okay. Good news is that I have kept those babies before.

I've never seen a Mag with splotches on its foot before, though.

Okay, it has moved to where I can get a better look at its foot. It's still in the bottom of the tank and is on a rock.

It has orange colored splotches on its foot, and it has just a few rows of verrucae close to its mouth. There aren't many rows of verrucae. That's why I didn't notice them earlier.

Thanks for the help. The good news is that my picassos have jumped into it.

Its hard to tell, but I would be willing to bet the Ritteri or Malu. The tentecals dont look like Malu but the bases does. The tentecals look like a Ritteries but the base dosent so Im kinda stumped!:)

If I can find the stupid memory card for my digital camera, I will try to get better pics tomorrow.

Yeah, I don't know. I bought it thinking it was a crispa, but I think it's probably a malu, which makes me wish I had held out for a more colorful one.

Oh well. It was one of those impulse buys.

I have to think that if it was a Magnifica, it would have moved to the top of the aquarium closer to the light and flow.

Look, I apologized about the quality of the pictures and said I would try to get more tomorrow. This was the best I could do today. Just wanted some help id'ing the nem, so I would know what I need to do with it, be looking for, etc.

I figured crappy pics would be better than just a description and no pics.

Not necessarily.. or it could be a case of "it just hasn't happened yet."

The fact that it's attaching to rock makes me want to stick with my magnifica guess for now until I see something that suggests otherwise (so, not trying to tease you more about the photos, but go find that memory card if you haven't already :p ;) ). Been a while since I kept either crispa or malu, but I don't remember either of them wanting to attach to rock by the bottom of their pedal disk like that - instead both had a very narrow pedal disk (compared to the diameter of the oral disk), both had HUGELY prominent verrucae on the column that they would use instead of the pedal disk to adhere to surrounding rock - so the bottom would be under sand or wedged into crevasses in the rock.

The splotches could just make it an interesting colour morph. I don't think I've ever seen splotches on crispa, malu or magnifica so it in itself doesn't really push me towards (or away from) any particular guess on species.

I agree with Tony. It looks like magnifica to me. I see nothing about that anemone that suggests it's a malu. The tentacles are to numerous and blunt to be malu. Maybe it will show something different when you post more pic's, but I doubt it.
