Anemone ID Please

He has been happy in the tank and I have been feeding him about every other day -- he eats about 1/4 of a shot glass of mysis -- my food mixing device of choice.

When I originally got him I placed him about 1/2 way up the tank on a rock. He ook hold and stayed there all day.

At night he roamed lower in the tank and hid his "foot" in a rock crevase.

I'd figure since he picked that place he liked it and it was ok for me.

I was wondering if I should move him to the sand bed because I hear that where he should be ideally?

a long tenticle anemone is what you have there. typically, macrodactyla doreensis prefer the sand, with their foot attached to a buried rock or crevice...but if thats where it wants to stay, thats where id keep it; it will move to a positition that best suits its needs.

Like Ron Said. M. doreensis, they usually prefer sand but I wouldn't try to move him now.

Very healthy looking specimen.

hes opened up even wider now .. like a full 6 or 7 inches round! Any tips on trying to get the maroons to host?

I read somewhere that I can get a veggie clip which has a picture of a clown on it and put it near him -- it will entice the clowns to hang out near it.

Generally, maroons prefer E. quadricolor as a host (BTA). That doesn't mean they won't go into an M. doreensis, but you might have to wait a while. Best way to get a maroon in there is to get another clown in there first (like a percula) then you'll have world war II and the maroons will take over the anemone :) (I'm not really recommending this but it WOULD work)
