Any idea what these may be? Looked interesting at the LFS, when fully extended the rock looked like it was covered by some large pallies almost. But now I wonder if this could be something problematic
I think these are usually called "rock anemones". I don't think they're problematic, but most of these that you see are temperate. I'd keep an eye on them either way, keep an eye on them. They're pretty!
They do look fairly active at the moment, a lot of opening closing kind of movement. One of them that was kind of under the rock has crawled out and currently moving through sand at fairly fast pace.
The majority of small colonial anemones -- think aiptasia and majanos -- can quickly become invasive if not kept under control. I agree that they look cool, just keep an eye on them!
Yep, so far I only saw one move from under the rock and settled in the corner of the tank attached to the glass.
Will see what they do as far as reproducing. I guess I should count them up as they are like 10-20 of them so I could tell if new ones are appearing.
As far as spreading, I wouldn't mind them here and there as long as they do not sting too hard or at least less than other corals so they would have chance to beat them down lol. Maybe surround them with a few chalices that like to send out 2 inch tentacles at night to herd them in place
