The guy that gave up on his tank and gave me his stock. When I got this anemone it was nearly as white as a sheet of paper. Below is a pic of what it looks like now. The mouth is a bit open as it just got done eating...

Good job bringing it back. If you want help with ID, a close up would be helpful. From this distance it looks like either H. aurora.

Thanks Gary. I'm hoping it'll grow quite a bit, right now I'm looking at upgrading from the 10k T5's to 250w MH's....do you think that's enough/too much?

At any time were you able to see the foot? What color was it?

Are there any "bumps" on the underside of the oral disk?
( I can never remember the spelling for the "bumps" it starts with a "V" )

T-5s could be fine, depending on how many watts you have and how far the anemone is away from the bulbs. The fact that it colored up indicates that the light might be sufficient. If it stays put for a long period of time, then it's probably satisfied with what lighting you have. And 10,000K is a good Kelvin for an anemone.

T5's with the right reflector, output should be fine, but most of my anemones move under the Metal halides when given the chance.

Then anemone looks very Heteractis species, will need closeups of the column to make a better guess.

Good luck.

T-5's are actually fine for anemones, in general, assuming there are enough bulbs, the anemone is close enough to the bulbs and the Kelvin temp is in the daylight range. T-5's are considered higher intensity than PC's and supposedly one can keep light demanding species at greater depths than with PC's or VHOs using t-5s. For deeper tanks, say 24 inches or greater, then MH may be necessary.

For more specifics from someone who is knowledgeable about T-5s, there is a thread on "General discussion Forum." The Grim Reefer is the member's name who knows alot about T-5's and the various bulbs/configurations that would best serve the the animals you're keeping.
