I've had this anemone for a while now I'm sure what kind it is. I know no fish likes it because I've never seen a fish go near it, clown fish included.
They have a very wide color range. The brown (if it's on the tentacles) could be algae also. I've seen everything from brown condis to pink ones although the pink are probably died that color. The most common I've seen have an orange base and white tentacles with purple tips.
I saw the picture you have on your photo gallery. It looks like an M. Doreensis aka Long Tentacled Anemone(LTA). I also pmed you with instructions on how to post pictures with using imageshack.us
I agree with Christina, it looks nearly identical to my Long Tentacle Anemone. It took my clown (A. percula) 6 months to decide to use the anemone as a host, it hosted a pair of feather dusters first.
Mine is unusual in that it prefers to foot on a rock instead of in the sand.
