Anemone Identify

If it is the picture I think you are talking about, it is a VERY bleached RBTA.

What are your lights and water parameters?

Sorry, blurry images, so this is just a wild guess.

However, is that a maroon clown? If it's hosting the anemone, it may be a Bubble Tip or BTA. My BTA usually splits when it gets to that size.

Then it's probably a BTA, and it does look too white to be healthy. I had one like that and it eventually quit eating. Hopefully with the lights, you can get zooxanthellae (algae) to regrow and it will become more of a brownish dirty white. However, that is its normal and healthy color.

Shameless thread Hijack: Wow, that is a reasonable price for a metal halide light. Do you like them?

Yeap great lights, I actually paid 299 shipped, basically its like a coral life fixture they just use cheaper plastic im guessing. Ill know more when I have to change the bulbs for the first time. Any idea on the small hitch hiker Nem looking thing ? I called the local fish store and they labeled it an RBTA when I bought it. It hasnt changed colors since I bought it and I feed it all the time, it always looked the same.

If anyone else can offer additional feedback that would be great, if this is bleached what are some suggestions on getting it into better shape ?

Feed often. Iodine may help in small amounts. I about killed my anemone by dosing iodine. It's zooxanthellae came back though.

I personally don't like to dose iodine, regular water changes should take care of that.

Was the anemone bleached when you got it? Or did this happen while in your tank?

How long have you had it? (( If really recently, I would cut back on your photo-period to allow it to get used to your lights ))

All you can do is make sure you water parameters stay in check, feed it -- small pieces, and give it time.

Also, keep an eye on the clown(s), maroons can be very hard on anemones, don't want to add to its stress.
