Anemone in a 2.5gal pico?

Is it possible to house only an anemone in a 2.5gal pico setup with very good lighting and protein skimming?

Perhaps if it was a majano or aiptasia.

The anemone would easily become larger than a tank that size and probably suffer from the severe instability a tank that size would have.

Despite good husbandry and everything working for you in that situation, I wouldn't feel its fair to the anemone :(

I'm not sure, anemones get pretty large. Like chrisstie said, maybe an aiptasia anemone. You probably could get one for free from your LFS.

There are also smaller similar ones like rock anemones that I don't think get very big.

I know some consider them pests but they do sorta look neat all grown out together on a rock, for a species tank it could actually look pretty cool. They are much hardier and spread much quicker than any other kind of larger anemone.

I have a 2.5g on my desk which is why I say this- when I contemplate the size compared to other species its like whoa, no way :(

No, it's not a good idea to attempt.
You could survive in a coffin if you had appropriate air and someone was feeding you, but that also wouldn't be a good idea.

Still not recommended in a 5 gallon.
I've heard of a few people having success keeping them in 12 gallon tanks, but the people with that success often find that the nem quickly outgrows the tank.

I would suggest a 29 gallon at the minimum, and only if the person has kept anemones ( successfully ) before.
