anemone keeps moving!!

how do i keep the anemone from getting hurt or killed?if this anemone starts wlking he could go to the wrong side of the tank.then guess what ITS ON!i have hydnophora (sp.) and a suction for the closed loop where he could be hurt.what to do, what to do?a little help please thanks anyone.

Ugh, its natural for the anemoes to want to move. can you safely cover the intake.

Is this creature new to your system or have you had it for awhile and it just decided to start exploring? As previously mentioned, it's not uncommon for them to move, but chances are it's not happy about something. Lighing is important, but also pay attention to the flow it's getting (not too laminar). Othewise be prepared to cover intakes and possibly move corals out of it's path, until it finds the right rock crevice to stick its foot in.

ugh yea thanks for the obvious stament J88. i understand it might want to move. My question was is there anything that i could do to keep it from moving. yes chip this is new to my current system.and im keeping a close eye on it.thanks for the wise words.

No you can't keep it from moving, they do what they want to do when they want to do it, the only thing you can do is watch, if you do not want it in a certain area you need to be prepared to protect what is in that area in case it wants to go there.

Although there are many post about anemones stinging and killing other corals, I have found this to be not entirely true, I have a huge green leather and numerous zoos than are in contact with my anemone most of the time and other than closing up while they touch each other all seem to do just fine. As for your suction the only thing you can do it cover that with something to protect the anemone from getting caught in it. Good research before a purchase is the best way to protect your wallet and all tank inhabitants.

You could try to reduce the likelihood of the anemone from moving by reducing water flow to its current position, especially if you have a high flow sps tank.

Me, I'm on the other side of the situation. I actually want my GTBAs to move from behind the rockwork, so I have added extra flow back there.

I have a BTA for more than a year and it attached it self in a nice spot.
Few days ago it splits an both parts start to move in different directions.
What could be the reason for splitting?
Are they (splitted parts) trying to move each from other ?

I had A BTA go to a "bad" spot...where it was very difficult to see him. so, though it was a lot of work, I ended up re-arranging the rockwork. He never let go..and seems to like where he is..but I was able re-arrange his rock so that I could at least see him...AND, at one point, my true perc actually went in...i'm hoping something becomes of that. So, while they do go where they want to go..sometimes it is possible to move their chosen rock location...with caution.

My BTA is hiding behind the rock when the lights are off and coming back when they are on. Is it normal ?

From my perspective, yes..that is normal. One of mine basically deflates and goes between some rocks at night..and then expands out into the light during the day...seems normal.

Yah, mine has been doing the same thing. Is this normal for them to hide behind rocks at night??
