Anemone meets powerhead Question

Well theres a first time for everything i guess. I got a green bubble tip anemone that found the powerhead lastnight after i put in a wave 2k. So i was wondering.. half of the anemone is still there and his mouth is kinda seperated from his body so what do i do to help this guy and is there a chance he will survive?

FME, it will most likely die. if it looks like it has a chance of recovering leave it in there. but if it looks like its melting, hurry and throw it away. and cover your intakes of yoru powerheads. it will save you tons of grief and save the lives of your anenome.

Sometimes these guys have surprised people. I can't speak from personal experience on this one, just from what I've read. I've read the best thing to do is let the nem try to wiggle its way back out of the power head (I'm assuming you've turned it off), pulling it out could cause more damage.

http://www.karensroseanemones.com/ This website has some good bta specific information. If you look on the left of the screen there's topic called Cover Your Power Heads. Not only does it show different ways of covering intakes, but I think it shows what some of the nems look like stuck in an intake, and after they've come out. Some of the ones on there made it and some didn't.
Hopefully this can help you :)

Post some pics if you get a chance. These creatures can recover from this. I would do a water change, and continue to monitor your water parameters. If it starts to look like it's melting, it's probably not going to make it. The website posted above is excellent. For now just keep it out of physical danger, keep the water clean and wait. You should see improvement in a few days if it's going to make it. Good luck!

mine just did the same thing. I know that if an anenome dies it will pollute the tank and i dont have a quarentine with a good light source (5 gal bukket lol) soooooo I cut the top off a 2 ltr bottle and took some water out of my tank and though the peices of the bta in there, and put the bottle in the tank and fasend it to the side with my cleaning magnet. it is just big enough to hold the bta and about 6 inches of water from the tank with the bottle 2 inces past the tanks water line. every day do a 50 % water chage IN THE BOTTLE with the water from the tank. mine looks like he will make it, in a week i will know for sure but he already looks like he is healing his wounds

At the point yours is at, theres very little chance of recovery. I would personally just toss it because it if it does not die now will die extremely soon. The wiggling is only good if it got sucked in for no more than a minute, and only the tents, and a bit of the body got pulled in. I had a really bad experience. My first anem, I was at a friends house for teh night, but I wasnt feeling good, so i went home. Theree were tentacles all over the tank, the biggest piece was the wad of guck that was not sucked in. :mad2:

Without a picture, I find it very difficult to say what the chances are of recovery. I've seen some pretty well trashed BTAs make full recoveries.
