anemone movement

i got an anemone a while ago and it doesn't seem to stay in one place. i heard that this means that the water quality is bad. does this actually mean anything?

There are many reasons an anenome sets out on the move. If it looks good, ie not deflated or has a gaping open mouth, then it is possible that the water quality is good, the nem just has not found a place it likes.

Light and flow requirements are a couple of the main ones. Depending on what type you have, it may not be getting the random flow or light intensity that it wants and that is why it is on the move.

What type of anemone? What lights do you have? What are your water parameters?

Sometimes the slightest thing can make them move. I have an LTA in one of my tanks, hasn't moved since Jan. Last night I ever so slightly increased the flow from my return pump --- opened up the ball valve a tiny bit. When I got home from work it had moved to a different section of the tank.

it is a condy anemone and i have a 150 watt metal halide. i have a nano cube so im not sure of the exact amount of flow. i am using the power heads that cane with the the tank. i havent done water tests lately but i think they are fine because i have a lot of other corals that are doing perfect. i will test the water as soon as i can.
