I have a 24 gallon tank with compact fluorescent lighting. I would really love to have a pink tip haitian anemone. If I put it closer to the surface, will the lighting be sufficient enough. If you have any other questions or need some more info from me just let me know. I really have no idea what Im doing, so any help would be fantastic.

Thanks, Eric

For the most part his never was happy with thy lighting and he had alot of pcs over his tank we then put t5s over it and it was really happy

I would not worrie about putting one in there.Iv had them in 8 gallons with 4 watts of light and have had them for sometime with VERY little issues.Iv had a Haitian Reef anemone(same species as pink tip condy!)in a 30 gallon with 2 18 watt LO t5's and he lived for about 6 months till my female tomato clown killed it.Have you read up on the requirements on this anemone?

I have a general idea of what im doing.... I think? I have read they prefer decent lighting and "meaty" foods. If you have any advice or anything please let me know. Im pretty much playing a guessing game at this point.

If you have read up on the anemone and have had a established tank for more than 6 months I see no reason why you could not keep a Condy in a 24gal.I have one in an 8gal Bio-Cube and he is doing VERY well.He has been in the tank for a months and has grown about 2 inches.

Alright, thanks man. I think Im going to wait awhile to put it in there. My tank has been cycling with nothing but sand and rock. A guy I talked to said it wasn't a big deal to put an anemone in this soon. You seem to actually know what you're talking about, so Im gonna take your advice. Thanks for the help.

The sad thing is most retail stores will tell you its okay to put a anemone in your tank when its new. They do this to get a "repet" sale. The first one dies and you dont know what happens.SO then you go and buy another one. This gives them double profit which in turn makes them happy and you very upset.

How long has your tank been set up and going?

Thanks,,

Its been going for about a month. I have 20 pounds of live sand, and 21 pounds of bali live rock, which is to much rock in my opinion. The plan is to take about 6 pounds of rock out. Im looking at live stock to put in. I have been reading up and trying to decide what to put in. Any suggestions?

Well your going to do an anemone get a pair of clowns like Ocellaris or Perculas.I always like to have some lower swimming fish so mabey a Blenny or a Royal Gramma.SO that puts you at about 43 fish so 5 would be the max and 4 would be the best.SO for a 4th fish I would do a wrasse of some sort as long as it is reef safe and doesnt get over 3 inches.SO mabey a 6 line or muliticolor. They both dont tend to get over 3 1/2 inches so you should be fine with them!
