anemone problem

I bought a white malu anemone 2 weeks ago, i placed him in my tank in the sand up agianst the rock, all was well and within hours i had 3 clowns fighting for the new home the next morning when i looked it had turned upside down! I turned in back and placed it up aginst the rock again. I thought the current might have been too strong for it so I turned off the power heads to reduce the flow but after 2 hours it was upside down again! it has been doing this everyday since i bought it my large clown actually sleeps underneath it now! What do you think I could do? My LFS say they'll take it back if Iwhat to but my clowns like it and they dont have another one.
Any help would be greatfully appreciated.

RETURN IT

from my expierence anemones that keep flipping onto the oral disk dont live very long.

if they are willing to take it back replace it with another as it wont matter to the clowns an anemone is an anemone

That anemone is bleached. It needs some serious food and light to get back it's zooenthelle. It will take awhile but after that it will be all healthy and and completely different colour. If you are in for the long haul and want to bring it back try digging a hole as deep as you can right at the base of that rock. Put it's foot in and then cover the foot up with the sand. Has worked for both my lta's as neither have ever moved. The little lta i got about 2 months ago was a little bleached. He was not sticky at all and took me about 10 days to get him to eat. But the colour has come back nicely and it is getting pretty big. So i guess the call is up to you. I would try to bury the foot and see if that helps him. Is it eating?

thanks for the advice.
I moved him directly under one of the 150w MH which is about 28" above him buried him in about 2"of sand hopfully hell like it there.
As for feeding I believe he has feed but have not witnessed it iv placed mysis near his mouth and hes closed up on it and i know hes excreated at least twice, What sort of feeding schedual would you suggest.
this is my secound anenome iv had, the first one was 4years ago which turned into a ball of dust due to my own suppidity and i dont want it to happen to this one!

I would feed him little pieces of silverside, clam, shrimp(raw),scallops. Just cut thim in like 1/2 inch pieces and feed it everyday. It will let you know if you are feeding it to much. It will just either not eat it or spit it back out in no time. In no time it's colour will be back.I should say no no time per say. It takes awhile but at least it will be on it's way.. Now did you dig that hole right by that rock? That looks good from what i can see. Now the waiting game,...lol
Cross your fingers it doesn't move:)
You will be able to see it digging it's foot down. It will look like its scrunching up and you can see some sand fly up. Or atleast i could see both of mine do it.

Well i tried! it rejected food,he would take it in and then spit it out no matter what it was. He kept turning over even when i put him in the sump, he'd turn himself over within 15mins even tried wedging bits of rock around him i think the clowns had somthing to do with it but eventually he curled up in a ball and started to disintegrate!

I am bummed to hear that. Take it back if you still can. I bought an anemone that did exactly the same thing (flipped upside down, spit food back out then eventually disintegrated). I am sorry, I hope you have better luck next time. Try to buy a "used" anemone from one of the reefers rather than an LFS.

I am sorry to hear that you lost this one. If i could send you a healthy one i would:) But i am thinking you are a little far away.)
Don't let it discourage you. Try to get a non bleached one next time. Something with a little bit of colour so you are not only fighting the whole thing of anemones can be hard to keep and it being bleached out at the same time.

Good luck
Lisa:)

thanks for the support but i think ill stay away from anenomes for awhile at least and ill search around more next time.

MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone
