Can someone please help me ID this anemone and give me some quick advice as to how to help it? I was walking through a local "Pet" store that sells SW fish. There was a big comotion in that area with a few store clerks so I walked over to see what was going on. When I got over there, I saw this sad guy floating around on the bottom of the tank in the current and it had what looked like it's insides spewing out. I think it may have got caught in the filter or something and then they pulled it out and put back in the tank. They were going to throw it out when I asked if I could have it. Not sure if that was a good idea or not, but if it can be saved then I'm willing to try. The problem is that I don't know exaclty what kind of anemone it is. They said it was something like a condylacti, but none of the pics I have found look like this one. Please help with ID and rescue/health info. Thanks!

That is a Macrodactyla doreensis, common name long tentacle anemone (LTA). It needs a deep sand bed to bury its base in. Whether it will recover from that injury is hard to say. The best you can do is give it excellent water quality (1.026 specific gravity, 78-82F, strong light, no nitrates) and wait.

He's right it should recover with good care.

Mine did the same thing. He managed to walk into a powerhead( even a covered one!! But apparently not covered enough) And recovered very nicely:)

Here is what he looked like just after i pulled him out.:

And this what he was like 8 weeks later:) Can't even tell.

Sorry to hear that, you tried. Sometimes with injuries it is hard to bring one back, depending on how healthy they were prior to the injury and probably other things as well.
