Anemone Show-off

Post pictures of your anemones everybody. Anemones and Clownfish was what got me into the hobby all those years ago (45 years). At the time they were impossible to keep. I killed a few then decided not to continue to kill them. It was not until the 1990's when I was able to keep anemone with Metal Halide lights.

Under actinic tank light, but with 100 Watts of 6000K flood light shine right on it. Blasted with light. These flood lights are Home Depo lights that are about 8 inches above the water and the anemone is 6 inches below the water.

It is too bad that all the anemone keepers seem to be gone from here. :(
Here is one of my new Gigantea that is on the mend.

The only anemone I have ever been able to keep long term in over 20 years in this hobby... have had many nice tanks, but never had luck keeping them long term. Decided to try again about 1 year ago in my 40g nano. Staying healthy and happy, but not much growth. Need to feed more often I think. About double in size since getting it.

@OrionN you have great luck with many beautiful nems. Wish I could have that kinda luck. Not sure exactly why I do not, could be many reasons honestly, but most my tanks have been mixed reefs or heavier on the sps side. Have used T5, MH/T5 combo and LED'S. This current one has been under 2 separate LED fixtures. Seemed to do better with my last setup, which was a stronger light. with its current setup, it seems happy with its spot and never moved from the spot I put it. Yet it isn't 100% expanded with bulbs like it once was.

The current tank is a newer setup, but same exact kind of tank it was last in. 40g nuvo, under AI 13hd, which I wasn't sure if it was going ro be enough light, but had to try before transferring to my big tank. I think it is possibly getting blasted with a tad too much flow currently where it sits, but it hasn't moved at all.

Any opinions on keeping it happier, increasing growth and all around better success with future attempts? What are you feeding yours?

Various anemone species required different conditions for optimal care. In general BTA usually does not want high light or hug currently like Magnifica or Gigantea.
You just need to know your anemone and provide it with the care it needs. In general they all wanted great water condition. BTA less light and current (LPS level) while you just cannot fine Magnifica and Giganea too much light. Gigantea in particular really like a lot of current. I have several video on my happy Gigantea on the internet somewhere.
I don’t feed my anemone unless I want it to grow quickly.
