anemone trouble, mabe

I just brought a long tentacle anemone yesterday. It was active floating around. haven't attached yet. this morning i found it *** up. I set it right side up and after a while it started smoking. now its closed up just sitting there. It is white with pink tips. After researching i found out it should not be white. stressed is white. the bottom of foot is slimy. Yesterday i fed it and the tentacles was sticky, today's anther story.

I have a 55 gal tank
tank been running for like 3 months
parameters are all ok got the water tested at the lfs before i brought it from another store. the lighting i have is a odyssea 216 watt t5 light system. I do have a power head. what should i do and if i need to post pictures i can if it helps. thanks guys.

What are the numbers behind the "ok" for your water parameters.

IMO, 3 months is too soon to have an anemone.

Do you have a sandbed? If so, how deep?
Do you have your powerhead's intake covered? If not, do that now.
Does that fixture have individual reflectors?
Yes, a picture would be helpful.

ok my parameters was ammonia 0,nitrite was 0, ph was 8.0-8.1, nitrate says 10 but that is the lowest number on the tester i used. sand bed is like 1/2 inch as im getting more

ok first day i got it, it just laid there and spin around due to the current but it got active

this is how it was doing last night before i went to work, It moved all the way from the left side of the tank to the right side under the power head, really active.

It looks fairly bleached to begin with, and that last picture it looks pretty bad.

Is the mouth open or is it gaping open?

I would keep a very close eye on it.

man this sucks, I should have waited. Im not at home and wont be home til tomorrow. the whole time i didnt see its mouth cause the tenticals was bent in. well tod your close by come over and do something.

I MIGHT actually take you up on that -- on Sunday.

wow thats really nice of you man. well i couldnt ask you that but mabe you can give me a call and you can shoot me some advice as im out of town as i will not return til sat night. I will pm you. thanks alot for all your information.

LTA's are sand anemones. It should not just be sitting out on top of the sand. Start by digging it into the sand DEEPLY - all the way up to the tentacles. Then see how it does.

And yeah, it is bleached and starving, but nothing that we have not seen anemones recover from assuming you can get it under bright lighting and in the sand.

well you guys been a very big help. I really appreciate you guys. My buddy got me into this and now i cant stop. My wife is trying to get me to choose between my race car and this fish thing. Im keeping both. Again. thanks guys. You all have giving me hope. as soon as i get home I will attend to it.

Now about the lighting. I have a 216 watt odyssea t5 light. Is that good enough. I was thinking of upgrading to a 250watt or what do you think of Hid lights, or t5 with a hid light.

Just got home and sad to say its dead. all white and tenticals floating in the water and the crabs are on it. This the type of stuff that would make me say forget it. I'm done. Lesson learned. Not to buy a anemone when it have no color as this one didn't and also research what my anemone needs like a deep sand bed which I'm going to take care of tomorrow. I think I'm going to wait awhile til i do this again.

Thanks guys for your help. I really appreciate it.

Sorry, been out of town most of the weekend, and right now only have a few minutes.

Yes, I would do a water change, and perhaps run some fresh carbon.
