Anemone Worth that much?

I just bought this anemone at a LFS that is going out of business.

They had it listed for $330 but since they are closing marked it down to $100. I talked them down to $65.

Is this really a $330 anemone? They said it is a really rare one.

Any thoughts?

Some of the red carpets are like $500-$800 each.

That just looks like a rbta. $100 would be the max I would pay for it.

The ridiculous original asking price may have showed why they were going out of business.

For Sure. I was going to say the same thing. The most i have ever seen was about 900$ for a red Haddoni Carpet.

i think rbta's split more often then other bubble tips so the "rare" part is more of a marketing thing. $65 is a good price for it but i suppose it depends on where you are located. I have been to stores that have sold them for $120 and then drove a couple hours and found them for $90.

one more thing, if they had that marked for $300 i can see why they are going out of business.....prices are a bit to high. jmo

Are there anemones really worth that much?

You don't want to know how much I would pay for a healthy Mertensii.

They're worth whatever you're willing to pay for them. :D

again its worth probably around $75-$100 so $68 is a good price. Just don't let a high price tag fool you, also people seem to throw "rare" on all kinds of things just to try and sell them for more. In my area it would have been priced around $75, but i know a few hours from my home it would be closer to $120. But if you are happy with the addition and its doing good then i would say it was a great deal.

Ive never paid much attention to anemones before so I don't know much about them. I do know they need to be fed and clownfish love them but that's about it. I was just shocked to see a price of $300 for it. Glad I only paid $65! I don't think I would have even paid $100 for it.

$65 is a good price for that anemone you got, though like anything else with aquariums - it is only worth as much as you're willing to fork out.
