anemone ???

I bought a bubble tip anemone Friday and it has been looking great. It opened up real good and was moving around in the tank and I assumed was healthy and trying to find a good rock to call home. I noticed this evening that it is crunched up and letting a filmy looking stuff out. Is this normal??? I had my water tested at my LFS and they said that everything looked good.

It possibly could be deflated. It looks like it did when it was being transported, so maybe it has released the water that was in it. The stuff coming out was the same color as it. It appears to have stopped releasing whatever it was releasing and now is bunched up tight. I haven't watched it at night, so I have no idea if this is normal. I haven't figured out my water test kit yet, I know that's not good. I have a percula clown, a royal gramma, a few crabs, and some snails and everything looks healthy. Sorry, I can't post water parameters.....

Um, you probably shouldn't be keeping anything else until you learn to use your test kits. Sorry, there is no excuse for not knowing your water parameters, especially when keeping delicate animals.

your fine, it will do that for several reasons, either releasing waste (poop) or deflating old water and inflat with freshwater, one of mine does it about every couple of days, it looks bad as if it was dead, but your ok natural for them to do that, also don't be alarmed if one day you find it on the other side of your tank, the will move, fyi just make your your intakes are covered or your going to have a big mess on your hands.

You should learn how to test your own water. A big mistake to rely on your LFS. It is sooo easy. Get familiar with doing tests and keeping an eye on your parameters, without knowing this information, it is difficult to give advice.

I'll be doing my own water tests starting this week... Kinda nervous to see how it goes being I'm red/green color blind!!!

bubble tip anemone, shrinking, not moving twords additional light, and NOT feeding. I have tried laying some thawed silvers across the old Mrs. and she just shoves them off. I havre tried gently stimulating with finger waves at the same time.....and still nothing. Any suggestions ?

Well first off, how long have you had it, what is your water like, and describe your tank set up. All these can help determine what is wrong with your anemone.

bassist6108, Yup I fly a learjet 60 out of Memphis, TN.

I have been watching him now and I believe he has found his home in my aquarium. During the day it looks great and is opened up fully, at night it crunches up almost in a ball and stays that way until the lights come on

I fed him last saturday and gonna feed him a freeze dried krill again tomorrow.
