anemones okay with morays?

i'm sure this is a noob question to many of you...but i have yet to dive into the anemone world, and i hope to do so on this 30 gallon i'm setting up. but i have a zebra moray eel that will be in the tank for a while. i'm trying to sell the eel because i know he won't be as happy in this 30 (he used to live in my 75 gallon) and since i'm giving the 30 gallon to my mom...i want to make it easy on her for cleaning and such...so shrimp, crabs, and snails are a must....

but i'd like to get an anemone in hopes that the maroon clown i have will take a liking to it (as it stands now...he loves his green hair algae)...lol. i even keep a rock w/ the algae on it just so he has a home...but i think with the right anemone he'd get over the green hair.

if i go ahead and get the anemone...will it be okay with the eel? moray's aren't known for being aggressive towards fish, but at the same time i know eels are commonly a part of "fish only" aquaria...

any thoughts or ideas? also if anyone has a good suggestion for an anemone that maroon clownfish usually enjoy...that would be great too!

I don't know anything about eels, but my maroons will host any BTA (bubble tip anemone...E. quadricolor) within about 3 seconds of introducing it to the tank. That's good news, as those are probably the easiest of any of the clownfish-hosting anemones.

Even so, you need good stable tank parameters, decent lighting, etc.

Have and have had eels in with my anemones.

Both a Golden Tail, Miliaris, and a Snowflake, Nebulosa, learned the anemone food, lancefish, was an easy meal. Both eels are now gone.

A lil' Melatremus remains in the tank and has never been a problem.

Not quite the same species, but I would suspect a similar result. Not to mention the demands for water quality will be tougher to manage with an eels dietary requirements.

I've had a snowflake with BTA's. No problem. Sometimes it used to try and steal food from the anemone, but was quickly put in its place by the tentacles. lol. Funny to watch sometimes

My wife has an anemone domanated tank with a snowflake. Everyone gets fed at the same time. The eel has never bothered any of the anemones for food, but we make sure he is fed well and has no need to go looking for food. He smells the food in the water and pops his head out of the rocks. We keep feeding him until he stops popping his head out.

Just remember that the eel can learn that there is food in the anemone. Try feeding the eel on the opposite end of the tank as your anemone. If you feed him in the same spot all the time he my learn to go to this spot for food. And feed him well before feeding your anemone. My wifes eel comes out the same hole in the rocks every time he gets hungry.
