Anenome eating shrimp

My L/T anenome ate my fire shrimp today. I saw the shrimp underneath him, and some of the tenacles were kinda curled around him, just a couple though. Then I watched as the anenome wrapped him up and put him into his mouth. He was gone within 5 minutes. Crazy. I figure the shrimp was probably trying to molt and was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Will this hurt my anenome? Will it be able to digest it? I'm concerned about my anenome now since I've already lost my shrimp. It was recommended to me to pull the shrimp out of the anenome's mouth. Should I have done that, or was it okay to leave it? I thought I would do more damage than good it I pulled it out, and I figured that the anenome can spit it out? Has anyone had this happen, and if so what is their experience with this?

I think that you did the right thing by not pulling it out. Probably will be the best meal that it will get in captivity?

the nem should be fine, remember this is what would be happening in the wild.

Very much agreed... Sorry for your loss...I think this type of thing is a risk we run from having certain animals with certain animals..

Are you sure it wasn't just the shed ? I mean did the shrimp shed and this was the left over?...That would be best case ..allthough I am sure you could tell the difference ... but crazier things have happened...There has been many cases with my various shrimp that I thought the shed was the actual animal...

Yeah that has happened to me too with my skunk cleaner shrimp..I thought it was dead a few times but it was just its exoskeleton..its exoskeleton is a perfect replica of the alive one..so it has fooled me a few times.

No it wasn't the molt. I saw the shrimp still moving, and there are absolutely no reminents in the tank. The anenome looks fine and is doing well. I guess I'm off to find a new shrimp....
