Anenome in hiding

Greetings all, looking for advice / help. I brought a new Rose bubble Tip Anenome into my tank last week Thursday. After reading many informative posts, I placed the RBTA on a rock that I was hoping it would anchor on to and stay. I left the pump/powerheads off for a while to ensure he would anchor and not get caught up in the powerheads, and within half an hour, he was anchored and in a good viewing area. Within about 48 hours he backed up under a rock and and tucked himself in, completely retracted. I then moved the rock he was under to see if he would open up again and he did. Within another another 48 hours he started moving down the side of the rock and around towards the back of the tank, out of direct viewing. here is a pic from last night

Sal - 1.025
PH - 8.17
Temp - 79
My tank is a couple of months old, cycled with 100lbs live rock. I have had the fish(2 p.clowns, bangaii cardinalfish, foxface rabbitfish and a pair of orange spot gobies plus a couple of inverts) in the tank for a month. When I added the Anenome, I also added a couple of soft corals that all seem to be doing good. I have been consistant with water changes and am not sure where to go next. Any input would be appreciated.

Cheers, Kevin

Quick update, he is back out as in pic 1, looking good again. This is my first nem so I am learning on the fly.

So, is it best to let him get comfortable on his own and wait to see if he comes out in the open, or do I move his rock and force the issue, what is the best strategy to try to get your nem to a place where you can at least see it.

Hi, I am on the same learning curve. I think it would be best to let it find its own home, which may not be where we want it. The more you disturb it the more it will not like the intrusions. Again just my opinion. Someone more knowledgable than me will help you. Good luck

A couple of months is probably to soon for an anemone from what I have read. They prefer a well established tank with stable parameters.

I have this same problem, Its like mine is trying to get away from my Clown fish that looks like he is harassing it, When I try to feed it the clown would take the shrimp away and go drop it in another part of the tank and now the Anemone is so far up into a rock I can barely see it I've just been waiting it out The Anemone has been in there for about a week now

Well, patience paid off. My nem had rotated from the back of the tank to the front where it is in plain view. I did do a couple of things, I blocked a bit of the light to the area he was located and I also moved my powerheads around, changed my current up. Then again, he could have just made up his mind and figured today was the day. Regardless, everything is good now.
