Angel in Hiding -- Day 22

Torch, my Fireball Dwarf Angel, has been hiding in the LR for over three weeks now.

I think he was scared or perhaps a bit injured when a piece of upright LR topped over. Ever since, he's been hiding in the Marshall Island LR . He ventured out of hiding only once in these three weeks.

I've been feeding Torch by directing Formula I and II pellets into his lair -- and he comes to the hole to peek at me when I deliver the room service. I've been suspecting him of having a poker tournament with the two scissortail gobies that hang out in the LR with him.

I know I'm just going to wait him out and hope he comes out soon.

Has anyone every had a fish go into hiding like this? Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks!

Lynn

are any other fish maybe picking on him? My freshwater fish do this if they have been picked on. He may have been picked on before you got him, and still hasnt recovered.

I really don't think so. I have two false percs that just hang out in the corner, the two scissortails, and a LMB. Torch has been in the tank with the whole crew since April.

Occasionally Torch and Benny the LMB would squabble over the nori but other than that Torch has been king of the tank.

Thanks for asking!

Can you get your Dwarf Angel into a QT? The prospect is not very good if you left him in there. You need to get some food into him!

dchao, I too was worried about Torch's eating so I've been delivering his food to his peeking hole ever since Day 3. The pellets drop down into his lair. He comes to the peeking hole when I drop the food down and I can see him eating.

If the Torch's eating, let him stay in his private room, there is no worry. Just keep on target feeding him with different food. He will come out one day.

Also a lot of angels are from deeper part of the reef and are not used to the strong lights we have in our reef tank. I always turn the lighs off during feeding, and my angel is more willing to come out to the surface to eat.
