So here is the deal I was going to do 180 but a 270g tank fell into my lap which happened to be my dream dimensions 72''x36''x24'' tall. Here are some pics of the progress so far.

Here are pics of the stand that was built by a local reefer and friend.

COOL! Can't wait to see it come together!

I got one the same dimensions except mine is 4" less wide. I pick my tank up next Saturday.

I will be tuned in here.

Yes I can't wait my self Rev! Here are my plan that I have for aquascaping. It will be half SS 1/2''-3/4'' and half BB some what like a beach front. I will build walls using eeg crate, gorilla glue, black foam GreatStuff and crushed coral . Here are some pics of the process.

Here are some pics of the beach front area. I used the crush coral to domenstrate where the sand will be. Also too I will only have a bout 200lbs of rock in this 270g. I plan to do my rock work hopefully the way I have it posted in the pic. All the rock in the back will be at least 2'' away from the glass to give maximum flow through out the back of the tank. Tell me what you guys think about the rock work.

So here is my equipment list.

Lighting- 3 250w halides 1 dual coralvue ballast and 1 IC ballast, IC660 for 4 T-5s. 2 large lumenbright SE reflectors and a Lumenarc mini stealth DE. The bulbs I will be using for the halides will be 2 20k coralvue for the lumenbrights and 14k hamilton for the lumenarc. Havn't decided on which bulbs for the t-5 any suggestion would be appreciated.

Flow- I will be utilizing 2 vortech MP40(will have a total of 4 when more dough is available), 1 tunze 6100 w/ controller, 2 wavysea with maybe the tunze attatched or some type of high flow PH.

Heating and Cooling- I will use 2 500w titanium heaters with ranco controllers and for my chiller I have a 1/4hp right now but I know this will not cool a 400g+ system will need to upgrade when the time and dough permits. Any suggestions would be great!

Reactors- I will have 4 phosban reactors 2 for carbon and 2 for GFO. For a calcium reatcor I am looking at getting the Geo 624 or 824 and also too I would like to run a kalk reactor alongside the calcium reactor. Any good reccomendation on a good kalk reactor?

Controller- I will be using an AC3 to control most everything except the heater and chiller they will be cotrolled with the Ranco.

Return pump- Dolphin AM 4700/5500 pump

Sump/refugium- I will have a 125g sump, 40-75g refugium, and a 30g frag tank.

Skimmer- Wm S200 and CNC 300A
Well I think that is all right now for my equipment list LMK if this is a good start.

Oh yeah I forgot I got my steel brackts delivered to me yesterday. The bracket is going to be bolted down to the back of the stand and go over the tank so the canopy can rest on top of it giving the illusion of a floating canopy. The canopy will be sitting 16'' from the top of the tank. Here are some pics of what I'm talking about.

Thanks Waynem an Jar*Head. I am very pleased at how the stand and canopy turned out. It is much lighter than most and is built tough too very sturdy.

So I have a question. Now I probally already know the answer to this already but how do you guys and gals think 3 250w MH in lumenbright pendants would do sitting a good 16'' from the waterline. Would the par value be strong enough for LPS and less light loving SPS? This tank will be domiantly 75% SPS and 25% LPS. All SPS will be in the middle to upper half. All encrusting montis will have its own little island or somewhere where it is not touching any other rock and all the LPS will find a place some where on the sand bed. I would go to 400s but that is almost twice the energy consumption and I want to try to keep my energy cost to a minimal.

Another question is about my flow. My equipment list has changed a bit for flow. My new flow design will consist of 3 tunze 6100, 2 vortec MP40 , 2 wavysea and a 1200gph return. I think that is around 16800gph at a turn over rate of about 62x per hour. Two of the Tunze will be attatche to the wavy seas one on the back right corner and the other on the front left corner the last tunze will be placed in the bottom back right corner 2/3rd from the top of the tank. For the 2 vortech MP40 they will be facing each other on each long end and they will be set more towards the front middle of the tank to take care of the flow for the lower half of the tank while the tunze on the wavysea creates some mad random flow for the top half of the tank.

Well I know that is alot of info:D . So tell me what you think about my plans. Will it be too much flow? Oh by the way this tank will be half SSB 1/2''-1'' and the other half BB too.

Thanks for the help

I was anxious to see what the stand and hood looks like in the room it will be sitting in. So.... I decided to drag the bracket in myself. Boy it was fun. Not that it is heavy it's just so awkward and my wing span its'nt all that impressive. Any how after I got it into the house and bolted and screwed it down to the stand. Again being anxious I danm near broke my back getting the canopy up over my head and onto the bracket. Man I have back spasm now LOL. Anyways Here are some pics of where and what it will look like. Now I have to paint the room. Any suggestion on color fellow reefers?
