You probably rec'd the email, but if you didn't, here goes:

The April 14th SEASL meeting will be a visit to fellow members Mark Wuestenburg's tank located at 161 Huntington Crossing Dr. St. Peters, MO 63376 & Kevin & Evia Carpenter’s Zilla III located at 628 Knollshire Way, O' Fallon, MO 63366, starting at 10 am.

We will meet at Mark's house at 10:00 to see his tank. Mark has a 125 gallon AGA w/ 3-250 watt MH lighting, basement sump & Euroreef 135 skimmer. We will move to Kevin's house to start the business portion of the meeting at 10:45AM from Mark's house to Kevin's house.

Last year was our third visit to Kevin’s tank. He has graciously invited us back to see how it has grown and matured. The tank is a 5000 gallon mini ocean. Come see the growth that has grown in the last year. You can preview the tank at Kevin’s website.

Please plan on staying for a potluck lunch after the meeting. Bring a dish or dessert if you can but please don't feel that it is expected. Everyone is welcome, dish or no dish. Please RSVP to Brad Witte ASAP so we know how much meat to buy. Kevin will have hot dogs, hamburgers, soda, napkins, etc. for us, but would appreciate a volunteer cook or three to do the barbequing so that he can answer questions about the tank. Card tables and/or foldable chairs would also be appreciated.

We will vote on new officers for next year. Please present your membership card to obtain a ballot at the meeting. We will vote during the business portion of the meeting. Electronic voting will be announced prior to the meeting.

Brad, Becky & Tom

Hey folks! I'm not sure why we can't this announcement stickied, but hopefully you've all seen it and know where to go this Sat. :)

This will be our first visit to Mark's place. His setup sounds intriguing as he is running a basement sump on his 125 display. He has opened his home to the club and we're grateful for his invitation. It's always fun to see a fellow hobbyist's setup!

For those of you who've never experienced Zilla, it's a MONSTER tank. There are approximately 5000 gallon in the main system plus a huge 'fuge. It's truly amazing. Kevin's keeps many tangs, which is something to see. He hand-picked his liverock from the ocean when this was doable years ago. The rock itself is noteworthy as you don't often see pieces of this size in the hobby.

Even if you're "bored" by a display so large you could snorkel in it, there will be some tasty BBQ goin' on outside. This is a great time to catch up with your salty pals and see some new faces. Remember, Zilla + FREE food = Happy Saturday!! :)

Although we'll formally hold elections at Kevin's we have decided to forego the electronic voting due to the limited number of nominees. There is one nominee per open office. Thank you very much to the folks who have agreed to join SEASL's board. We look forward to your contributions over the coming year(s).

Curt Swearingen - nominated for Executive Officer
Joe Johnston - nominated for Treasurer
Del Brashares - nominated for Secretary

Becky McAlister and Tom Gibbons will continue in their current Exec Officer roles for the coming season. More information about our election process can be found here: http://www.seasl.org/bylaws.php

DUH! Maybe if we PM'd a mod who isn't on vacation we'd have better luck w/ the sticky.

Hey they can't take vacations!!

A question about meeting etiquette - do children ever attend? I have a seven year old who wants to come. Thanks

Will

Everyone is welcome! The more the merrier. Kids really get a kick out of it (big ones like me too!)

Kevin has offered up used sand and macroalgae again this year. BYOC (bring your own container) if anyone needs some.

The surge device is working this year so this mini-reef will really be rockin!

This is a great opportunity to see something really fantastic!

As a late-coming sidenote, the used sand is DRY southdown. He has a barrel full, you just need to scoop what you want.

As Brad mentioned, kids are always welcome and there will definitely be a few mini-reefers there this year. :)

Mark and Kevin,

I would like to say thank you for your wonderful hospitality.

Also, a big thanks to the people who organized this event. I had a great time as usual but ate too much (as usual).

Thanks to all that setup and graciously allowed us to view their tanks today. The trip was very fun and educational. Had a great time.

Pictures! Pictures!

I couldn't go. Was too busy putting new treads on myself (shoes) and my car....to the tune of about $700 by the time I was done. :(

So....pictures!!
