Announcing our website

Yes, it is true. We just got a website:

www.arksc.org

Nothing fancy, just a simple Joomla website with my touch of logo and few images. Feel free to register and put in your tank info. There is also a mini gallery for tank shots that will appear in your profile if you choose so.

The purpose of this site is to get some info on the members and their tanks, post some announcements and/or articles. Have a central calendar and place to store any documents (both powered by google apps).

I've added a the Jan and Feb meetings to the calendar and a few of my FTS in the gallery just to give an example, not of a tank, but of how to use the website

So there it is. We can expand the website any way we want so if you have any suggestions put them here and we'll discuss.

Any email should work.. Did you try to register even with it complaining about the email? I don't think it actually prevents you from registering.

When I registered it said it didn't like my email address either. But I clicked "register" anyway, and it seems to have worked. Now I'm just waiting for my registration to be "approved".

Mike, as I see it, this club is really a community effort and there are no officers or rules set. If you want to be a part of the club then I suppose you are. I suppose on the next meeting we should talk a bit more about the website but until then it is up to you

Nice job I just need to be approved... will have to set up the TOTM on the websit we can do votes like you have the voiting setup for the "have you joined already" Will put up a tank member section and uploud or tank pics that we want for TOTM and then have a vote and then that months winner will have there tank on the front page of the web site for that month and soo on..Nice theres alot we can do with this website. Trying to upload a pic on our websit when I hit upload it does it but now pic goes up..and there all like 500kb under2000k and then when I got to the edit it has a red X over remove imagae any help Thx's Brian

That is exactly right. But FWIW, I'd suggest that if we had any rules, that full membership should require attending one meeting. After that, you're bona fide and in for life!

I don't want to highjack the website thread, but I guess as things start to become more real (like this website!), having to consider some of these things happens as a natural consequence. That said, I'd recommend that website membership be limited to "club members", and that club membership require no more - or less - than attending one meeting. Otherwise this is no club at all. It's just anyone that posts on RC under this forum.

Is that for your avatar? I think I just approved one for it. For the gallery I'm not sure why it would be an X. PM me if you still have a problem.

Just a quick note for AOL users. Seems like AOL tags emails from arksc.org as spam, so if you register with an AOL account make sure to check your spam box and/or put arksc.org in the whitelist/safe list.

Sounds great. If you want to write a few words for each photo, feel free to submit an article, otherwise you can upload the photos in the gallery. I'll approve once they're up.
