(another) Acro brownout experiment

the last time I did this on RC the coral failed to color up. Much to my surprise, that coral even failed to survive!

So... what the heck... another Acropora and another attempt. For future reference (taking pictures for this thread) my camera settings are:
manual mode
ISO 50
1/80 shutter
F stop 2.7
all aquarium lights on
6PM at night

let's see what happens to this one. Hopefully it survives!

I believe this one is from Sea Dwelling via MO :)
FWIW it's a cultured coral. I'm not sure of the species yet but it's growth habit appears fairly unique so it should be easy to narrow down to three or four possibilities.

Every time I'm reminded of coral gambling the words "No whammies, no whammies, no whammies" come to mind. :D Wishing you luck & success w/ this one Gary!

is there any blue in the tips or am i seeing things?
no. I realize it's a somewhat lousy pic. I took it quickly right after placing the coral in my aquarium.

maybe it likes to be brown
if it's Anacropora you might be right. I've had Anacropora in the past and it does stay brown. Here's a better pic of this brownout coral taken from it's other side.

doesn't look like anacropora to me Gar. Resembles a valida with those teenie polyps, but I think the best we can call it is acropora. Just gotta wait and see what colors develop. Always fun!

I have played the brown acro game way too many times. Like any casino game sometime you win and sometimes you loose, but at the end fun is all that matters. Keep us posted Gary.

In the finding Waldo game I would have to say it is on the right hand side of the picture. Under a pink milli? and above a green stylo?
