i have a 375 with a 5 inch passer angel in it, and she is the alpha fish. she has been there prob 6 months, now i have a friend who is selling a GORGEOUS super healthy and fat 5 inch queen angel. what do yall think about adding her to the tank as well, with the Passer???
thanks guys in advance

Two very aggressive holocanthus angels in the same tank, I don't know, that's probably not a good idea. Both are extremely aggressive and hardy, I've owned both, still have the passer, just not in my tank (brothers tank). If the queen was bigger, I'd say go for it. Maybe try rearranging the rock when you introduce the queen, or seperate them off with eggcrate until they "tolerate" each other. It's a big risk, but it all comes down to every fish is different and you won't know until you try. If you do go thru with it, just be prepared to pull either fish out asap.

First off, I do not have experience with this specific species combination, so this is just an opinion :) However I have had several angels over the last 10yrs, I have read extensively on them, and consider myself to have a medium to good understanding of angefish behaviour.

Both fish have a solid reputation for being very aggressive at the sizes you mention (they mellow out a LITTLE with size and age). Both fish also have a solid reputation for not backing down from a fight. I would ask the question, what size tank is the queen angel in? Chances are it is a smaller tank than your passer is in, so while they appear the same size, your fish is probably bigger.....

So, I would say no, it is not a good idea, on the basis that:
(1) If the queen was MUCH bigger, the passer would still have a go..... in fairness, if hammer head sharks don't phase them, then why would an angefish!
(2) Because they are similar sized, and hence fairly matched, the passer would hammer the queen - ounce for, being a more aggressive fish anyway.
(3) You are probably talking about the most aggressive and the second most aggressive species of angefishes - generally the idea of an angelfish community is based on the premise that once fish assumes dominance, and the subbordinates just accept it...... I cannot see a queen or a passer accepting subbordinance.....

I've kept both together, there are some problems, and every comment above is true, they are both aggressive and will fight, you have much better chance if you were adding them together or they were different sizes. IME the passers will be dominant and adding the queen to an established passer tank could be a problem. If you could move the passer to a different tank, put the queen in and then add the passer back is an option to maximize your chances. You could also add a much smaller or much larger queen, if it is smaller the passer will not be as likely to care that it is in it's territory, if it is bigger it will be a better match to handle the aggression.

Good Luck

ok thanks for the advice again, i will go take a look at the queen this week to check out it's actualy size

Not a very good idea and im usually the guy that says go for it but this time dont. The passer is an aggressive if not the most aggressive angelfish and the queen is no exception the passer will kill it.

dang i really want that queen, and the passer is not aggressive to ANY of my fish in my tank, even the smaller ones. dang i guess its just not worth the risk
