(Another) DIY LED Controller - Simple Arduino Style

Thanks for the post! are there any boards that do analog 0-10v instead of PWM? Most people are utilizing 48ds nowadays so trying to find a solution for that.

Thank you again for simplifying things! the other thread was getting looooong.

Not recommending it but Im actually using Arduino PWM on my 48D's. Two of them actually.

@ KTNCH,

Thats a very cool setup.... I want the Nokia one too, but its way over my head... maybe next time in the future.

Ok so I am looking into ordering all this stuff.... like I have the tabs open in FF ready to order...... Should i get these exact parts? what If I would like temp monitoring?

ReefNinja,

Sorry I cannot answer you this question.... Right now, we are trying to concentrate on just a simple "RAMP UP - RAMP DOWN" of LED lights.... No clouds, no storms... Just "RAMP UP - RAMP DOWN"...

But with that said, It doesnt mean that you cannot do your temp thing with this basic parts.... Let me explain it more....

Arduino - you will need this since this is the brain.
LCD Shield - or just simple LCD will work also. You will need this... to display the temp of course... (with buttons) to adjust the temp???? (without buttons) to monitor the temp???
RTC Clock - to control time and display it...

Tadaa!!!! I guess youre still in good hands... Breadboard... yes to keep adding stuff easily with your project... I feel comfortable to say yes and go ahead to order those parts.... where??? its up to you... those are just suggestion on my part....

The nice thing here is, you will be ahead of us... then if youre succesfull, you can share it with us here...

OR IF YOU REALLY WANT IT SAFE FOR YOUR 48D.... (dont laugh ok)

maybe you can jerryrig something together.... POT + SERVO + Arduino...

heh, yea my joy and the reason for my concern on safety is because I have 10x drivers :) :)

that would be a pretty penny to break. LOL

Here's my little guy. I am changing the drivers to ZETEX drivers but it works great. OLED screen, USB.

Ok so can you pm me a full parts list of what you got going there like I mean everything? I am with the led control and adding extras as I go but my led control is my main goal.

I will order everything today to get started on this with you guys.

Also will this work better for me?

Looks like it's got most everything but the Real Time Clock. Not that I have a clue about this yet. But I find it fascinating.

Yes it looks ok... and Molehs is correct, your missing the RTC clock...

NOTE: Im not sure about that LCD screen, so you I may not be able to help you on that one...

Ok So I am running the 48D's like fire is is there a known option for us using this driver? I will be grabbing that ebay listing but getting the same arduino as you got its cheaper comes with alot and looking at other diy reef stuff it can handle the temp and what not that Im looking for.

So, as a complete newb, with the Ardueno from the ebay listing how many things could it manage, such as 3 sets of LEDs, temp probe, PH probe, etc? Originally I was going to hold off on a controller but this certainly seems like it can do quite a lot for not much money.

Im not sure but this guy

http://reefprojects.com/wiki/Build-phases#Playing_with_the_Arduino_and_various_parts

is using it with a lot more than this. I am thinking about going with the mega but only if it allows me to do more stuff

EDIT: Ok it looks like the mega doesn't fit the shields of the other one. so I will be snagging a different kit.... I really liked that big screen lots of info on there lol also in these kits how do we wire the switches any clue?

But really isn't that just aesthetics? You could just use the bread board to wire it up rather than mounted as a shield, no?

But regardless keep us informed as to what you pick, I might get it as well.

Guys, Im not the person to ask these questions... lol... you're way ahead of me... I just finished the RAMP UP and DOWN control... lol...

Im sure it can... I just dont know the answer right now...

If you guys want to be future proof.... Buy the "MEGA" version... or higher... the difference is, the mega is using a more advance chipset.... It means more I/O.... it means more input and output.... it means more sensors, more pwm's, more control...

Read here for more info....

If you buy these MEGA Arduino boards, you can still follow us here... lol....

Hope this helps...
