Another Lighting Length Question

I've read best rule of thumb is not to have your lights run more than 12 hrs or it may promote algae growth.

Does this 12 hr cycle include your actinic lights?

My lights (2 x AI Sol blues on a 120) ramp up over 5 minutes at 10AM, are set to 45W/65B/65RB, and then at 10PM whites go off, B and RB to 3% for a half hour.

My reasoning is that because most of our corals come from relatively near the equator, 12on/12off is pretty close to what they should be used to.

As for promoting algae growth - if you have an algae issue, fix the nutrient issue and the algae will take care of itself.
