Another One Bites the Dust?

I'm seriously considering breaking down my tank too... seems like it's a contagious disease or a plague right now (what's this the third or fourth tank that's coming down in the last few weeks?). As much as I love my tank/set-up, I'm finding it harder and harder to justify the costs.

Stay turned.

I'm feeling your pain, Lonnie. I may just go fish only.

RTN: Rapid Tank Necrosis?

Hang in there, it was my only vice so that was my justification for my tanks at home.

hmmm. im actually thinking the same thing.

i called the solar place cindy recommended last week. be interesting to see if that makes things more palatable.

no no... the plague of a few people taking their tanks down.

But, yes, losing a few corals in the last few weeks certainly hasn't helped. But, mostly it's an economic decision.

I really need to call the place Cindy suggested too. I've been procrastinating for some unknown reason.

Ive debated many times taking the tank down due to all expenses associated with it. LIPA just rapes us more and more. Its pretty bad when an electric company can start to force people out of the hobby. Solar isnt an option for me as i rent so im stuck with what i have. Im actually turning to propogation to help defray the electric bill............

Don't you dare!

nooooo Lonnie :-( i'm leaving mine up, and i'm only switching because it's not reasonable to keep the tank up when i'm leaving the house...for 32k a year. that's justifiable. lol.

I think we need to run a undersea cable to Warren's house for all LIRA members to tap into :D

Sorry, it was a feeble attempt at humor with a play on "RTN", except this RTN is spread from human to human, affecting their brains to tear down their tanks...

Oh I dare. I dare :(

Do like i did downgrade to a 30 cube and just keep softies and some small fish.

Put 4 T5's on the tank and run a canister filter and 1 powerhead in the tank and 1 heater and the electric bill is now very respectable.

I'm tearing down all my tanks too.
You are SO not LOL

But, I appreciate the showing of solidarity.

Ok, I got the sump pump going and I started draining my 20,000 gallon tank today as well.

Anyone need about 3,000 pounds of assorted live coral, 10,000 pounds of live rock, and about 700 reef fish up to 5 pounds each? There is 30,000 pounds of quarried limestone base rock available for free as well but you have to carry it.

I'll also have a special pricing on (20) 1000watt fixtures and (6) 400w fixtures, and a 500 gallon/ 200gpm protein skimmer.

No shipping, must pick up by today Sunday 5pm.

At this rate, Reef Central will be forced to shut down due to lack of activity in the next 30 days.

The end is near.

Have your thought about making the move to Solaris LED lighting. If you save a couple of hundred a month it could be worth the investment.

I have a 25g and was hoping to upgrade in a year now I am not sure; hearing some of the LIPA bills that people have its more than a car payment.

Hey Joe, i just threw the built - in swimming pool company off the job. I will take the tank! Do i get a warranty?
