I highly recommend this as a substitute for Interceptor. Actually it did a better job! Usually interceptor will leave some pods alive that I can find, but this stuff annihilated all my pods...I put my emerald crabs back in after treatment with zero fatalities.

Highly suggest spreading the word on this as the next go to pest treatment.

Lufenuron is the other chemical in Sentinel. It is a Chitin inhibitor, which makes it much more effective. It is also used to treat fish lice in Koi Fish.

1 Large dog pill should treat 400 Gallons.

Thanks for the information, but I would like to know why you are using it if you don't have red bugs?

I lost some LPS corals 4-5yrs back to black bugs. Interceptor fixed the issue back then. I don't have a QT tank. I dip corals, but you never know. I do it as more a preventative and it also works great at de-worming fish. I see no harm with it...It is just like dogs or cats...Why treat them when they don't have heart worm...? Like anything it keeps a healthy tank and gives me peace of mind...

Ok thts sounds good but doesn't it kill the pods and all the good stuff that adds life to the reef?
 
Yeah pods die, but they can always be reseeded. It doesn't kill much else...All inverts stay alive besides crustaceans.
 
Anyone have any negitive experiences with their fish or other inhabitants after placing the dipped corals back in the tank?
 
When I dipped a hundred or so frags at once, despite cleaning them carefully afterwards, when I added them back into the tank it killed my peppermint shrimp off. Dipping fewer at one time I've had no bad reactions. Just make sure you rinse the frags thoroughly before returning to the tank, especially if the coral you just dipped has slimed up.

Does anyone know the life cycle of red bugs ? Also does anyone have pictures of the eggs or are the baby's free swimming?

I have been using this for all of my corals. SPS, LPS, zoas. I use the complete insect killer soil and turf concentrate @ 250ml of water to 10 ml of Bayer. 10 min dip followed by rinsing in two separate cups of tank water before adding to the display. I have done this several dozen times. I have not had any problems and not a sign of any hitchikers on the corals. Some frags are going on 6-7 months old.

Just dipped two...

Did 15 ml Bayer in 500 ml tank water followed by 2 rinses in separate containers for a "tri-color" acro and a "rose" milli. The tri-color was definitely infected with red bugs. I didn't see any on the milli but they came from the same place. Initial observation immediately after dip showed a few bugs left but not moving. I cranked up flow for a few minutes and then didn't see any so I assume they were dead. These are 2 brand new frags so I am worried about their stress right now. I have some pics I'll post later but I am not all that confident in my macro abilities as far as bugs showing up.

First off I want to say thank you to everyone who have tested Bayer on their various corals!

I have read through most of this thread and there is a lot of good information here. I currently use Coral RX but Bayer seems like a much better solution so i will be switching.

From my understanding the smooth skin acros do not handle this treatment as well as other acros. I am getting in 3 maricultured colonies in tomorrow and would like to know if this is the best solution to dip them in (based on my research in this thread):

Acropora lokani - 5ml per 1/2cup (118ml) 5-7 minutes
Acropora millepora - 10ml per 1/2 cup for 10 minutes
Acropora plana - 10ml per 1/2 cup for 10 minutes

Please let me know if this sounds good. i appreciate your help!

I've had no problems dipping my smooth skinned acros. Caroliniana, carduus, echinata, a few others. I do 20ml Bayer per cup tank water, for 3-5 min.

Dropped one Nudi in 10ml Bayer complete insect killer- 8oz tank water.. 1 hour later Nudi is still Alive
 
Perhaps a stupid question, but what is one to do with a full reef of mature SPS colonies? Sentinel or Interceptor allows full tank treatment. Has anyone experimented with Bayer as a whole tank treatment?
