How do I change this?
I've read all the other threads like this that I can find and held off as long as I could before starting my own. Picked up a small sebae on monday. About 2.5-3" across, tan with purple tips, not bleached. Had been at the lfs for a while.
Got it home, acclimated it, set it on the sand where the rock met the sand. Wasn't sure if it was a malu or crispa, so didn't know which it would prefer. Turned off most flow. Have about 1500gph turnover total in display right now. It's not in the line of flow and doesn't get blown around.
Tank info is as follows:
80g w/ 40b sump. Display is 4' x 2' x 16" (LxWxH)
Nitrate 0
Ammonia 0
nitrite 0
calc 430
alk 9.5
temp 78
lighting 400w 20k + 2x24w T5 mounted about 24" away from sandbed
Transferred a 1yr + old tank (with rock that's years older than that) into this new tank a couple weeks ago. No new rock, all new sand (Old tank was BB) except about a cup to seed. LFS said since the rock was established, and there was no cycle from new sand, that the new sand would be no problem, and I couldn't find anything to the contrary on here. One rbta in the tank along with this one. Rbta is downstream about 15" away. I run carbon 24/7. Dose vinegar with xp2000. No fish that would bother nems. Clownfish have paid it no attention until I moved it onto the rock last night, thinking it might have been a malu after not digging into the sand. Had a small .75" pink skunk hosting it this morning, but not now after coming home from work. It was sticky all week until I came home from work today. Ate some shrimp on monday. Could have possibly been bothered by a torch coral today, but I figured it would have been the other way around. Has been inflated during the day and deflates a little at night, but no more than normal for night time.
So from the other threads I've read, I can't seem to pinpoint anything. Only the tank (meaning the glass box) and sand are new. The rest is established. And since most people replace sand instead of reusing it when moving or upgrading, I'd see no problem there. Any ideas? Did I leave out any info? And of course do you think malu or crispa from the pics? I could possibly get some better pics of the foot if need be without stressing it later, on after if inflates back up a little, since it's not attaching anyway. Yes I know how big crispa's get.
