I know one of the benefits is that is hides all the equipment and adds more water volume. Although then does it really matter what size your sump is????? Like I have a 55 gallon that is in rough shape and I am thinking that maybe I don't want it to be my sump anymore since I am in a building and a water flood could be serious. I want to buy a ready made sump although most of them come in the 20 gallon range. Does anyone here know where to buy a good quality made sump for a larger tank.

Yes, size does matter. If you make the sump too small, it might not have enough room for water drainage in case of a power loss. Then the sump will overflow.
Ok I understand that but what I mean is a 55 gallon tank used as a sump would make no difference then a 40 gallon. Both can handle the load of 150 gallon tank, and can fit all the required equipment. So I assume having a deeper tank is better because then the water height does not drop as drasticly when the pump is turned on and you won't have to worry about your pump getting in air.
