Anthias question

Where do your Anthias like to hang out?

My Carberryi Anthias spend a lot of time in the rock work. The rock is pretty porous so they frolic in and out all day. Is this normal?

BTW, they're not being harassed by other fish.

Male Squarespot hangs out in front right side mid-height. Doesn't move much from that spot but I've only had him a week.

3 lyretails... 1 female changing to male,2 decent sized females. Mostly top 1/3 of the water column, all over the tank... sometimes in the rockwork. Always in the rocks at night.

our borbonius are pretty much all over the place, out swimming as well as navigating the rockwork.

our flavogutattus spend most of their time out, but will definitely retreat to the rockwork.

we had a "he-she" lyretail for about 8 years and she spent all of her time in the open.

Dispars... out in the current all day long. A few of them go in and out of the rocks, but most of them stay together out in the open.

My Carberryi stay out in the current and in the rocks. I have 5 and it seems like at least one is hiding or trying to get cleaned by my skunk cleaner shrimp at all times, except of course at food time. They are all huge pigs!

To jump on this thread, I received 4 lyretails the other day and they were sold as 1 male 3 females. When they arrived, 2 of them look like they could be the male and they are constantly bickering. Will one succomb and turn female or will I have a constant problem? These are my first Anthias. Also, to the OP they are out and about until the lights go off and then they head to the coral.

I'm not an anthias pro by any means, I've only had my lyretails for 4 months, but I don't think the change once begun is reversible. You may be in for a fair amount of bickering between the two.

I'd suggest starting a thread to ask, some of the guys here (SDGuy comes to mind) really know anthias.

I have one evansi and two barletts and they stay in the water column looking for food most of the day. They do go in the rocks, but usually not for long and then come back out.
