Anthias won't stop fighting his reflection all night

So lately I noticed my anthis fights his reflection at night when the room lights are out and his reflection is the brightest... A week or so ago he developed an ulser but that seems to be healing up well....

Tonight I got home from work and noticed my frogspawn hard a couple of heads closed. He occasionally slams into colonies when fighting him self. Well the entire time I have been home he has not stopped this behavior. His lips look raw, and he is breathing heavy....

And for the first time ever he did not eat.... Anthias are pigs... Never seen him ignore food....

I will post a video tomorrow....

I think he is a gonner.....

None just the mail. He gets along with the other inhabitants except my Midas blenny... He hates him. Funny thing, since he started doing this the Midas has been swimming freely in the tank fight in front of the anthia....

Woke up this morning and turned on my blues to see if all was well and he came charging into the glass. Hard....

I turned the lights off last night and he stopped...

Nice... True, but....nice....

There is no catching him. The problem is he gets so violent he slams into corals....

If its always in the same place, try taping a piece of black construction paper in that area. Once he doesn't see the reflection anymore, he might stop looking for it and forget once you take it down.

During the day he does it to me when I am looking in the tank.... His lower lit is all shredded and bleeding

No you cant fix stupid is right.....

My anthias hates his reflection from time to time but never goes quite as crazy as the one in the vid. I hope the taping paper idea helps calm him down mate. Sure wouldn't like the fish to hurt himself to a point where he can't heal up from. Good luck.

Doesn't surprise me that he went after the midas blenny. Midas blennies actually mimic female lyretail anthias in the wild, so can be seen as a potential threat to the male.

I think you should attempt to do something to keep the male from seeing his reflection (paper, etc.) or catch him using the trap method maybe.

My Kole Tang did the same thing as video. He eventually chilled out but I did use white paper taped all around for a few weeks.

Well I did the white paper in one spot and he moved on so I will do the rest of the tank. He is still doing it today but has stopped the heavy breathing so that is a good sign... His lip looks like he went a few rounds with Tyson.

well he appears to have stopped... His lower jaw is ripped down to the bone and bent downward (pics to come later). He is eating though...

he's telling you that he's ****e doff there are no ladies in there with him...anthias have needs dude...c'mon... LOL
