I recently acquired a Mag 50 (that's not a typo 50 not 5).

Anyway the label on the thing reads:

115 VOLTS A.C./60HZ/475WATTS/4.15AMPS

Just wanted to check. There is no kerning in the text so it's hard for me to tell. Am I correct that this thing will draw 4.5 AMPs? The spacing on the label makes it look like it will draw 15 AMPs! Now that I've typed it out in a different font I feel better about it, but thought I would see if anyone knows for sure anyway.

Watts = Voltage x Current so....

475Watts = 115Volts x 4.15Amps

A Mag 50? :eek1: Is that a external or internal pump? I know how much heat my mag12 puts off, I would hate to know what that thing would do if it was internal.

It's actually either, just like the smaller ones, this is just a massive scaled up version. I'm going to run it internal, as plans are for a total water volume of about 800 gallons with most of it being in a concrete basement, there's no sense letting all that heat energy go to waste. If it turns out that I can't keep the temp down I'll just move it outside. I put in and plugged a few extra bulkheads in my sump just for adding more pumps should the need arise anyway.
