its a chiton most likely.
At least thats what it looks like. If it is, its perfectly safe.
Does it appear to have plates across its back?

alternately it could be some kind of sea slug/cucumber.

Saw one i my tank last night.
well,
it's all speculation at this point.
Got home pretty late. This guy had cralled out of a bucket over 9 in tall with less than 2 in of water.
