Well...I must admit that I didn't read every post, but it seemed like a lot of the ideas were moving towards supplying to an LFS market, whereas I was thinking it would be more for setting up a network for the hobbyist to buy CB ornamentals from "hobbyist" breeders. I use that loosely, as obviously income would be gained, which could make them "commercial."
Seems that the easiest/best way to do this would be a simple website where breeders could list their current stock for sale (Say you've got 23 viable GSM juveniles available for sale, you would throw up some pictures and contact information...update the number when you've made some sales, whatever.
It could be similar to the way LiveAquaria has their fish section setup, where it's separated based on species. Within those sections, it could be set up similar to any other image gallery thing, where you've got the thumbnails displayed and separated by username, etc. Customer clicks on the thumbnail, takes them to a page with more pictures and the contact information, and it goes from there.
This would, of course, have to be a good-faith setup where breeders were honest about their stock and kept the page updated on a regular basis. They would also have to be able to make changes to their section at any time.
It seemed great in my head, but as I wrote it the potential problems with such a system exploded and became glaringly obvious...it would be really difficult to make sure that the site wasn't misleading potential customers with out-of-date listings.
Maybe it would just be a better idea to have a list of breeders willing/able to sell offspring, the species they currently breed, and contact information, and leave all that availability and pricing stuff between the breeder and potential buyer...hmm...
