Any Latezonatus owners?

Hey all,

I finally landed one of my most wanted fish, a 3" latezonatus clown. He had been QT'd by the original owner for 3 months in his own tank, and arrived at my doorstep Friday morning. He is a gorgeous fish, I just wanted to see if there were any other owners out there and their experiences with this fish.

Thanks!

sweet, thanks for the reply. My guy is digging frozen mysis right now. What are people keeping their tank temps at for these fish? Does anyone have an anemone for them? Thanks again

I have mine on a system consisting of 3: 48x15x15. The tanks run between 70-74. Salinity is kept at 1.020. One tank has 4x 96w pc lighting and the other 2x 96w. I started out with 6 and am down to 3. 1 died of mysterious reasons, another from an eye infection, and the last one from a bacterial infection. Two of them died at 8 months and I lost one this past week. I've had them since June of 2007. These guys were better off in the ocean.

Give them an anemone.

I think most wild caught amph. have a much better time adjusting with an anemone.

Also that pair of Latz looks out of place in a big empty tank.

You need to give them some rock and an anemone.

Its like animals in the old zoos in the concrete and metal bar pens. For year they couldnt figure out why they got sick and angry until they recreated actually landscapes for the animals to live in.

Just my two cents.

I have been looking for a pair for a LONG time. If anyone knows where I can get them...hook a brother up!

Thanks

My "pair" - been with me for about 1 1/2 yrs. The anemone is a S. mertensii. They are the only clownfish in a 150 gal tub. Were purchsed from Old Town Aquarium, Chicago.

Sedgro, awesome fish! Very nice anemone as well. Chances are it will be a while before I find another Latz to go with my current one. I just happened to get lucky finding this one.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

AgentSps, good luck in your search, let me know what you find.

Those look like very very nice homes for your latz.

Do you see any difference between the ones in the anemone and the ones in the Clay pot...

I mean differences like skittish, sickly.

i find most wild caught clowns will do better with an anemone.

Both pairs eat like pigs and are generally unafraid of me. I do get the general impression that they would be better off in a larger tank. I am moving both pairs into 100 gallon rubbermaid troughs by themselves with some captive cloned RBTAs I have. I'm doing the same with my leuc pairs and a few others (the 210 is being slowly broken down.)
I think it has more to do with swimming space than with an anemone. Heck, you could use an anthellia colony as a host. I just think through observation that a 4'x2' tank would be optimal for these fish. My leucs are just now becoming less skittish after being in the rack system for about a year.

I really can't describe what it is exactly that gives me that impression. There's just something that doesn't look right... despite that they're fat and otherwise happy.
(I'm talikng about the pair in the 40 breeder.)
