Thanks, the website still says they are available. Do you have to call them to find out if they really are still there?

Those are good prices, I just don't think I could ever bring myself to buy online, when you can spend a little more and support local buisness that can get nice stuff and you can see it first.

If the specials are going to leave soon then as soon as I get $75 worth of stuff I will put the order in. Oh, I would much rather support the local stores they just never seem to have anything when I go in. I went to get a small rock with about 8 yellow zoas on it and they asked $35.00 for it. (not going to name the store) another store (not going to name the store) sold me a rock with about 20 on it for $10. (amazing deal) I know you can get good deals I just don't have the time to always look.

Saltwater fish does not have people you talk to, they operate only by email. I always find time to look for good deals on coral, or at least make the time. Have you ever thought about requesting specific things from the local stores? I know that if I were to order in some big fancy coral for my store knowing that I couldn't move it because people are really cheap in these parts, I wouldn't, but if someone showed me some interest, I would get it in. Woody Justice is the only person I know who has spent over $150 on one piece of coral here is Springfield, other than myself, and I know that because he bought a frag off me. People in these parts have low budget reefs, and don't account sometimes that we are in the midwest, and it's hard to get some stuff that's out on the coast because that stuff is cherry picked, and it costs a whole lot to get all that stuff shipped here, think about shipping on 10 boxes!!!! Good luck w/your order though, I have had good luck w/saltwaterfish.

That makes since. I didn't mean to rag on the stores here. I am sure they are doing the best they can. I was just trying to try something different. Plus, My budget for coral is not huge. I spent less on my tank then woody Justice did on his coral frag. I am very new at the whole coral buying so I have no idea what they are really worth. I am learning, and want to learn. That is why this club is so great. Thanks for the knowledge.

Just checked with saltwaterfish.com They still seem to have everything. I did find out there is a fee $10 and a fuel fee of $10. Still think it is a great deal. I really want those shrooms and flames.

This is getting to the point where every time someone posts in The SEAS Forum about purchasing something online or from anywhere other than locally, they are getting pressured or badgered about it.

It needs to stop.

I believe we all realize the importance of supporting the local stores.

People in these parts have low budget reefs........

 Just because people aren't buying $150 frags around here doesn't mean they are being "cheap" or have "low budget reefs".

I agree.
I and other stores realize that we cannot beat or match for the most part online vendors. This is a public forum and you are free to say what ever you want or set up whatever group buy you would like.

We understand you will buy from other places including online vendors. There is nothing more disheartning than when a customer comes in and says I can get that online for $x.xx. If you want to buy it online go for it. But if you want local support and the beauty of seeing the item before it is bagged to go home go local.

Again I love the members of the SEAS and they have made my job great.

Thank you John,
Well nobody has to worry about it anymore. I got another newby (john) to go in with me. They had everything in stock. Here is the list of what we are getting.

2 Pink Tip Haitian Anemone
10 Assorted Hermits
3 Emerald crabs
1 Porcelain crab
1 Flame Scallop
5 Peppermint shrimp
2 Green Ricordea (shroom)
1 Umbrella (shroom)

I think I have done my research and everything is reef safe. I am a little worried about the Haitian Anemone but I just got new lights and john has a 250 MH.

I have heard that some crabs are bad for reef but I have a emerald and I love him, I looked up porcelain and they say are gentle.

I have done my research but has anyone had problems or just thoughts about our ordered creatures?

"I have done my research but has anyone had problems or just thoughts about our ordered creatures?"

I would wait on getting an anemone until your tanks are a little more established, I don't know how long yours specifically has been set up but for some reason I am assuming it may be fairly new?

I do not try to pressure anyone into going to a LFS, I merely suggest it becuase if I hadn't spent a lot of time in one I would have made many mistakes, I think I am very lucky becuase I have not made a bunch of mistakes like a lot of people run into when they first start. I am not opposed to buying online, I just figure it is "safer" to buy locally. This is also why I think a mentoring program like the St. Louis Reef club has would be a good idea for the SEAS club.

If you need to add more to your order I'd suggest:

Nassarius Snails
Astrea/Turbo Snails
More Hermits

you can't go wrong with those.

I removed the pink tip haitian anemone and replaced them with one Cleaner Clam. That makes our order right over the mark. Thanks for the help. I guess I will have to feed the flame scallop daily? I wouldn't get one but the only reason my wife will let me spend money is if I get something she wants.

I mix up; Mysis, daphnia, rotifers, oaster eggs, cyclops, mega marine algae. I get it at Aquatics and Exotics. Then I use a baster type thing and gently blow the food onto the coral. You can see it stick to some of the coral like the dendro and acan I have. Then I just throw the rest in after I get everything good.

I also dump in some DT Phytoplankton and Marine Snow once in a while.
